Recording Crash in Logic Pro X after High Sierra Install

Greetings.

I'm new to communities... joined up specifically because of recent crashes on my iMac (High Sierra and Logic 10.4).

I noticed you're at 10.4 as well, JessicaP; were you at Sierra and 10.4 before and noticing no issues?... I did the High Sierra upgrade (directly from El Capitain) almost simultaneously with the 10.4 upgrade and just notice problems then... so was a little befuddled about which upgrade was (most?) to blame.

Also, was your crash occurring as you stopped at the end of a recording? Perhaps you have been reading about some of the (temporary) solutions that have been offered on forums (avoiding crash by coming out of record before pressing spacebar or clicking stop... using a remote iPad or iPhone app to control transport). I still need to prove to myself that some of these things actually work (my crashes have been intermittent) but would be glad to keep this thread a little less lonely and report back.

Amazing isn't it. Apple computer, Apple O.S., Apple software... one would assume compatibility.

New versions of logic usually have problems, best to wait for the 10.4.1 version for things to get fixed.

as for OS, turn off automatic updates and only update if you absolutely need to! if everything is stable with your OS & Logic, just stick with it.

The suggestion to 'wait' would be a tad more helpful if one knew for how long... or knew that someone in the ivory tower were even aware of the panic down below... but I realize it's a dose of realism and I appreciate your thoughts, kerochan.

I'm no newbie to computers (never use auto update on anything) and have always stayed with aging, more stable systems in the PC world (I actually used the German Emagic Logic for years even after Apple bought it...) however, I am but a mere sapling in the Mac world. The part I didn't know was 'stay away from point 0 versions.'

And, I have to confess, I naively believed that software, O.S. and hardware from the same company would remarkably reduce compatibility issues.

In my utopia, Apple makes beautiful promotional ads for new versions of O.S. X and Logic's new improved features, each with an addendum that states, "But don't download, for as you know, the first version will test your sanity for entire month!"

Oh... and I boldly say a 'month' only because Version 10.3.1 came out 33 days after 10.3.

I am on the edge of my seat.

In your first graphic it shows the crashed thread (14), that's what we need to see.
