Repeated, Serious Kernel Panics MacBook Pro

Hello,

I'm sure having problems with my MBP and its repeated kernel panics. I can only run in Safe Mode. I've done all the obvious fixes. One question I have: if I can run in SAFE MODE but not in normal, can it still be a hardware issue?

Here is my Etrecheck report:

EtreCheck version: 4.1 (4A162)

If it works in safe mode without a panic then it usually means something you've installed has installed a kernel extension that is incompatible or is related to an incompatible peripheral. I suggest you examine this and uninstall any third-party add-ons, peripherals, or software that installs kernel extensions, launch agents or launch daemons. Note what is disabled in Safe Mode as a hint for what you should look. I can also suggest:

A Troubleshooting Protocol to Identify Problems or Fix macOS El Capitan or Later

You should try each, one at a time, then test to see if the problem is fixed before going on to the next.

Be sure to backup your files before proceeding if possible.

  1. Shutdown the computer, wait 30 seconds, restart the computer.
  2. Disconnect all third-party peripherals and remove any support software like drivers and plug-ins.
  3. Resetting your Mac’s PRAM and NVRAM
  4. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC)
  5. Start the computer in Safe Mode, then restart normally. This is slower than a standard startup.
  6. Repair the disk by booting from the Recovery HD. Immediately after the chime hold down the Command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears. Choose Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the side list. Click on the First Aid button in the toolbar. Wait for the Done button to appear. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
  7. Create a New User Account Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and enter your Admin password when prompted. On the left under Current User click on the Add [+] button under Login Options. Setup a new Admin user account. Upon completion log out of your current account then log into the new account. If your problems cease, then consider switching to the new account and transferring your files to it - Transferring files from one User Account to another.
  8. Download and install the OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 Combo Update or 10.12.6 Combo Update or Download macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 Combo Update as needed.
  9. Reinstall OS X by booting from the Recovery HD using the Command and R keys. When the Utility Menu appears select Reinstall OS X then click on the Continue button.
  10. Erase and Install OS X Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the Command and R keys until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:
  1. Select Disk Utility from the Utility Menu and click on Continue button.
  2. When Disk Utility loads select the drive (out-dented entry) from the Device list.
  3. Click on the Erase icon in Disk Utility's toolbar. A panel will drop down.
  4. Set the Format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
  5. Click on the Apply button, then wait for the Done button to activate and click on it.
  6. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
  7. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

Hi Kappy,

Thanks for taking the time to assist. I should have been more precise. I've been having kernel panics with my MBP for the past month. I have done all troubleshooting (listed below) and had--a few months ago--run Linc Davis' bash script and posted that report.

Unfortunately, Linc Davis doesn't post here these days but I did see an odd crontab line that had no business being in there (I suspect it came from a MacKeeper download since I'm generally wary about what I load onto my machines). I cleared the crontab weirdness and reset NVRAM and SMC several times. I booted in single-user mode to see if I could detect anything obvious. The only unsettling line was the SATA WARNING identify device checksum not implemented, which I see many people asking about. Obviously it makes me wonder about possible HD failure but I don't know.

So, continuing, at the time, I had also posted my KP logs AND had a couple helpful responses from forum users. A user asked me for the Etrecheck report. Yet, after spending some hours working through the generally prescribed troubleshooting, my laptop started functioning normally. It did this for about a week. I thought it was cleared (I just didn't know for sure what had made the difference-- i.e. I had completely uninstalled Malwarebytes as it has been the only other application that I'd installed.

At the time, I had also reinstalled the OS (Yosemite 10.10. 5) by the way.

Yesterday the dreaded kernel panics again and this time it's worse. I can completely run in SAFE mode but crash at login in normal mode. I have looked under the hood in single-user mode. Cannot see anything other than the SATA warning.

It's probably time for a genius but what I wanted to know is this: IF it's a hardware issue, why does it run okay in safe mode. Wouldn't a hardware issue be pervasive?

I will attempt to pull the latest KP report and post but it's virtually the same as the other/s I've posted here. I am deeply appreciative of any help and suggestions.

Many thanks all

Here's the most recent kernel panic. Thanks for sending link to the developer notes. This is puzzling but I know there are users who can read the log quickly.
