lost photos

Hello

I have an iPhone 5S which last night updated to ios 11.2.6 and it also completed a back up to my iCloud.

However, I have noticed this evening that all by 50 of my photos (1000s) have disappeared from my phone but I can see them all on the iCloud (logging into iCloud via a Web browser).

I presume that if I allow my phone to complete another backup, it will backup merely what is on the phone (58 photos). Am I therefore at risk of the backup of my 9000 odd photos on iCloud being deleted?

I have previously downloaded the content of my iCloud to a folder I setup on my PC to have a copy of my photos independent of the iCloud app. I have tried to download photos since that last manual download but when accessing the iCloud (via a web browser) it is not possible (seemingly) to select more than 1 photo at a time.

How can these problems be resolved please?

thanks

If you are using iCloud Photos, then no. What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support.

See above link.

No, I do not work for Apple. This is an end-to-end user forum where folks, like yourself, help each other out.

How would I check that?

My phone now has a mere 58 photos on it

I can see them all on my iCloud when I log into it via a browser. But I can’t select multiple photos to download either (since getting a 5S which I can’t access direct with a USB cable and simply copy my photos I’ve started making a separate copy on my pc downloading from iCloud)

Hi

Yeah, photos are turned on in Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Photos

So if I just leave my phone connected to WiFi it will download the 1000s of missing photos that went missing since iOS 11 update last night?

Any other tips for how to download multiple photos from iCloud? It only seems to let you select one at a time!!!!

I have setup a folder in the iCloud app on my pc where it specifies where to download the iCloud content to

However, it doesn’t seem to be starting that download

I’d like to just download the whole of my iCloud photos to my own folder on my pc so they are safe

Thanks
