Woodfield store/wait time lies

Is it me or was the Woodfield store not up to par. I was told the wait time would be 5 min when I walked in between meetings to make an appointment for after my meeting. I waited 45 min. Then had to get up and leave and then they texted me waited 9 min before I asked to change to an appointment bc I was already late For my work appointment. Came after my meeting was told the wait was 2.5 hours. Wasn’t that many more people in the store so guessing that was realistic. I have had apple products for a while but am happy i didn’t get the iwatch with the gps phone built in Bc I am thinking about switching companies all together. I never write reviews but this needs to be said The Apple store in woodfield really let me down as a client today. I talked to Dee on the phone now she is going to mail me out a box to send my watch back in. She may be the only reason I stay with apple. just disappointed I know I won’t get an answer but I hope others read this and know not to go woodfield or not to trust there 5 min when it means around an hour.

I do get how you feel, but that happens anywhere they have a queue system and someone without an appointment wants to be worked in. Walk into a doctor's office, and if they don't simply turn you away ("Sorry, there's no way to fit you in today."), they tell you to take a seat and hope for the best. You can then sit for hours watching people with appointments who came in after you going in first. Or sitting around for hours hoping for an open seat on a booked plane.

Here's Apple's contact page for making phone calls. Not sure if that's supposed to be for technical support, of if you can reach general customer support that way. Otherwise, there's the contact page.

We are all other users here from around the world; what is appropriate for one is not for another. When you are posting in an open online forum, you must expect the occasional "somewhat abrupt" response. Additionally, according to the ToU here, complaints are not really encouraged - discussing a technical problem is. Here is a link to the ToU:

Try as they might, the Genius Bar can't always hit their target times. It's the same as a doctor's office. You have no idea what kinds of problems are going to come in. Anything that takes longer than a typical time slot backs up everybody else after that. The more time consuming problems there are, the longer the wait past your appointment time becomes.

Now, that doesn't mean the Woodfield store isn't understaffed, and this is a common occurrence at that location.

Kurt if you say 5 min that means your next. 3 people came after me and were helped at the bar before me. I was turning in my watch to get repaired. Saying 5 min and making the person wait 45 is a slap in the face. Also when I checked in the guy said might as well stay right here Bc they will call you then I see there workers just talking about there beards and flirting in the corner isn’t something that would make me leave happy

I can see you trying to see the good, however understand that the Genius Bar runs on reservations, and specific Genius employees are there for different devices, and their appointments times are based on the type of device. Someone may have called in sick. You are lucky the particular store you went to deals with walk-ins. Not all Apple stores accommodate walk-in clients for the Genius Bar, and to be honest, a 45 minute wait would be much better than them telling you the next appointment isn't until Wednesday of next week. The fact that you were restricted in your time was also not the best time to go in when you didn't have an appointment either. Next time address it with the manager, rather than coming to an international forum and ranting about service. No one here could address your service concerns anyway, and you may have been accommodated had you spoken to the manager. Anyway, it is over now, so you should get past it. Also, the Woodfield store in Schaumburg is one of the busiest stores in Illinois.

I talked to the manager they said nothing I came in to set a meeting for another date. With hoping I got lucky I can make it 3 hours from them a simple no from them would of been fine but saying wait here 5 min is different. And I was told by there service people to post here because they read them. There is no email to send concerns to .

Well, that can be read two ways. As dismissive, or to just put it behind you as the past can't be changed.

That's the problem with text only conversations. How the person who wrote something intended it to read, can be taken entirely differently by someone else. There's too much missing when you can't see the person's visual clues (facial expressions, etc.) and even just their intonation.

I will admit my first inclination was that it was a bit abrupt, but as I looked at it again, I thought, "Welllll, maybe not."

You're only talking to other users here. We can't do anything about it anyway.

The forums are meant for technical questions that users can (hopefully) answer. Polls, complaints, rants, nonsense (we see more of those than you would think) are usually removed pretty quickly.

Your initial post most likely avoided removal because folks tried to find out why this happened, and to help how they could. The hosts will leave such topics if other users are making a meaningful attempt to help, even though it isn't something they can really do anything about.

In this case, the "help" boils down to what Chris4203 mentioned. Make an appointment before showing up. Especially when you have other commitments to get to.

Thank you Kurt I will call there support and find out. I understand to make an appointment which is why I went in there is to make an appointment when he said 5 min wait I said why not do it now. Making me wait was just getting to me. They said they read these things when I was on the phone but to anyone reading these things telling someone to get over it doesn’t defuse it. It treats them like 3. It’s ok the Apple page not just a random page online. Thank you again Kurt. I will call to ask where to address these to tomorrow but with no email it makes it hard
