Did you also go into Messages > Open a text from this sender > Tap the circle with the little i in it > Tap the > at top box > Block This Caller
It appears you have to do this in Messages to block the texts.

I’ve received hundreds of texts from the Uber Text Scam AFTER I blocked the number. Why doesn’t “blocking” block texts as well? This scam is driving my nuts!!
