Notifications on lock screen prevent slide left camera

If there are enough "unresolved" notification messages on my lock screen, I am unable to gain quick access to the camera using slide-left. Sometimes. It's not consistent.

Anyone else running in to this?

iPhone SE, iOS 11.2.5

Clearing notifications will solve this.
