How to select multiple words on Notes or documents mac

Hi,

Can someone tell me how to select multiple words on a Notepad (or any other mac document).I would like to highlight & color those words which are on different paragraphs or lines.I know how to color them but making multiple selections is something that I am trying to figure out.

No shortcut to change font color in notes? I understand I'm supposed to click format, font, and then "show colors" (or shift-command-c). But is there any better way to do this? Having to continuously re-pick a new color every time I open the "show colors" menu is unnecessarily cumbersome for such a simple action. The menu bar being customizable could have a color option as there's tons of room for it.

I work with digital design, so a big part is about documenting design, writing design guides etc. But today I experienced something I haven't encountered before. At least this is the first time I see it. When writing hex color codes, Notes just assumes that I am trying to tag my document. Is it possible to turn this off? It is very disturbing for the kind of documenting that I am doing. I'd hate to have to find some other text tool now.

How to highlight multiple segments of text (in PAGES) without repeatedly going back to the "more text options" button in pages? I do research, and it's very helpful for me to highlight text in PAGES documents. But there this requires multiple steps, and there is an awkward problem I want to solve. Here's what I've been doing: 1) I highlight the text. 2) I go to the format side-bar and click the gear noted as "More Text Options" (it was called something else in earlier versions of PAGES) 3) A drop-down menu appears, and I go to "text background” and click on two palette options. 4) A “Color” window appears, and I click on a color (usually yellow) Now here’s the problem, after clicking the color the “Color” window remains on my screen, and that's fine—But, if I highlight a second bit of text, it seems logical that I could use the “Color” window and click on yellow again to highlight the text background… But, it changes the color of the text, NOT the background. I need to close the “Color” window and start all over. This is terribly frustrating, and involves repeating multiple steps. QUESTION: Is there a solution to this? In many applications you can select non-contiguous text by making the first selection and then holding down the command key while selecting additional text.
