An alternate method:
Place the pointer in the tab for this sheet (Sheet 2), and toward the right end. Click the v that appears to open the contextual menu. Choose delete.
Note that in the image above, it is Sheet 2 (whose tab is showing the v) that will be deleted, not Sheet 3 (which is selected, and being displayed). In the image below, Sheet 3 is the one to be deleted.

The names of the sheets run across the top, below the menubar. Select the name of one you want to delete, right click, then choose Delete from the drop down menu.
