"Mailboxes" under On My Mac don't match what is shown in the "New Mailbox" dialog box

When I create a new mailbox in Mail.app, it doesn't appear in the list of mailboxes in the "New Mailbox" pop-up dialog. My list of mailboxes in the "New Mailbox" dialog don't match what mailboxes appear on the left-hand side of the application. I put question marks next to the inconsistencies in my screenshot.

What is going on here?

Also, why doesn't the Apple Communities have a "Mail" app option for Category? Is it not a Mac app?

There are some anomalies I have noticed.

Disconcerting however a non-issue.

I have a few extra I never had before of a different sort,

nothing I am too concerned about (ie not mission critical.)

No content in any of those in the red square.

I’ll submit feedback, @leroydouglas. Thanks!

The biggest issue is creating sub folders. You essentially just have to create them wherever then click-and-drag them where you want them.

I noticed this about six to eight months ago and am surprised it hasn’t been addressed, honestly. But then again, Mail.app is stuck in 2004 so I’m not too shocked.

Got any mail clients you recommend? :)

Sorry to say I do not.

I converted to Apples Mail.app about 2009 or 2010; I came from the old Eudora—the transition was complex and not without error. The take home lesson, was to have adequate backup plan. This enables you to fall back if something gets lost in the translation and it takes several attempts of changing software.

At that time (2009) I tried many mail programs on the market, and finally settled on the convenience of the built in Mail.app. I could not be happier, it does everything I demand of it. I have 4 different business, no less than 12 different emails, 4 signatures. Integrates seamlessly into the iOS environment.

Mail clients come and they go, so I am sure the availability is quite different today. You will just have to poke around and try as many as you can—until you find something that works for you. It never pays to get too far behind in the software or hardware.
