After i try to send a text message, the contact appears to send to a number or an email. Without deleting the email in the contact list, is there a way to have the contact’s number be a default?

Instead it sends the text to another number in the contact’s list and I get an error. The contact has a mobile number listed, and it is first in the list. There is only one mobile number in this contact. I don’t have this trouble with other contacts on the phone. I am surprised texting is using the wrong number in the first place, and there is no setting to override it. I prefer fixing this situation than to create a new contact for this person. Iphone 7s, iOS 13.3.1.

Not defaulting time mobile number When sending a text message, my iPhone does not always default to a contacts mobile number. This has meant me accidentally texting a message to a landline number. Is there anyway I can change this. TIA

When entering a contact to send a message, why does a contact's email become the default address instead of the cell phone number? For some contacts my text message is defaulting to email address instead of cell phone. How do I make the contact's cell phone the default.
