Macbook pro 2012 screen not working

hello

I'm having a problem with my macbook pro 2012 where the computer turns on (I can hear it and the keys light up), but the screen wont turn on, not even the backlight. I took the screen off because one side was loose, but there were no initial problems with the display, and the video cable wasn't damaged. I fixed the wobble but when I put the screen back on and started the computer, it was dark, but external monitors with HDMI work fine

its a 15 inch mid 2012 macbook pro retina with 16 gigs of RAM and 2.7 GHz intel core i7. its in good shape and to my knowledge has never been dropped or had any water damage.

I tried reconnecting the video cable and shift-control-option-r-p, rebooted several times but nothing works.

I think its a problem with the hardware because there is absolutely no reaction from the screen when i switch the computer on.

if anyone has any ideas that would be awesome. I've looked everyware in google but cant find a solution.

thanks!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

Hi Seby_D,

From what you have described, this sounds like an issue with the connection to the built in display. If you remove the cover as you did before, please check all pins are straight as this could be a loose connection. The fact there is no backlight suggests no power going to the display.

The Graphics card seems okay as its outputting to external displays.

As you are out of warranty, I suggest removing the covers and checking the motherboard and make sure there is no damage/burns/loose components and take it from there, but this is at your own risk.

Just on a side note, try plugging an external screen into your Mac, and checking the display settings (SystemPreferences>Display) and see if it shows two screens. If you can let me know the results of this, I will try to assist where possible.
