ITUNES problem

I'm on Windows 10 and have been unable to use itunes since June 2017.

itunes will freeze on my device connection or on starting the program itself.

I went on the net and was advised to uninstall or update my itunes and windows. Windows is updated.

Problem is whenever I download an itunes update, the installing process will get stuck at Windows Installer (Please wait while Windows configures Itunes) and I cant uninstall itunes either as the installer will be stuck at the said part.

Uninstalling using 3rd party program also didnt help.

I'm trying to backup my iphone 6 as I want to switch to new device but will be unable to do so because of the itunes problem.

Itunes is stuck in my laptop, I cant use it and I cant either update or remove it. I'm this close from reformatting my laptop because of the problem.

Please kindly advice.

Typically that error is caused by a sticky copy of Apple Software Update that won't remove itself when requested. Try repairing that first. Then try installing iTunes again.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Right-click on the setup file and run the installer as administrator. In some cases you may also need to disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus software while installing.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, or want to revert to an older version if the current one won't work properly for you at the moment.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
