Force Quit Safari ( command + option + esc keys).Then restart Safari holding the Shift key. If you still have problems Empty Caches (Safari menu > Preferences > Privacy > Remove all website data. (This will also remove history if you do not want to remove History open Safari Preferences > Advanced and check mark “Show Develop Menu” then choose “Empty Caches” from Develop Menu ).

Then go to Safari Preferences > Extensions and check there. If there is an extension delete it.

If the problem persists download and run MalwareBytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac.

For future reference, never download a Flash Player update because of a pop-up message. Those installers are bogus and will install adware/malware. Always download either from System Preferences > Flash Player > Check for updates, or from the Official Adobe site.

The "you need to install Flash" scams are kind of all over the Internet. The shadier of a site you visit (like ones who offer the viewing of copyrighted movies and shows), the more likely you are to see one. They're not evidence of any type of infection. They come directly from the site and they hope you're dumb enough to believe it and install whatever malware it is, because it sure won't install Flash.

macjack's steps should clear it. Sites use ad-tracking to have ads seem to follow you around. The site you visited with the Flash garbage likely installed a cookie that enables it to push ads to your Mac. Besides macjack's steps, after you're done with those, open Safari's preferences and make sure these two boxes are checked.

I suggest you use the program created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. It will provide a snapshot of your system which we can analyze to possibly determine the cause of your problem. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Go into all your files and single handedly remove all the recent flash bs that is causing all the problems. If the other don't work
