I’d like to set up a looping series of photos and synchronize my own music to them. What’s the best way to do that, using Photos, Pages, Keynote, or some other app? I'm using a MacBook Air, 11 inch early 2015, and OS 10.13.3.

In Photos you can create a slideshow from selected photos and videos, then add a soundtrack - you can select songs from your iTunes library.

But you cannot trim the songs in Photos to make them align perfectly. If you want that, create the slideshow in iMovie; it makes it easier to arrange the sound clips.

It depends, how you got the songs from iTunes.
You cannot use songs downloaded from Apple Music, but if you purchased song and albums individually from iTunes, you can use them.
For example, this song is showing "Protected AAC Audio File" as the file kind in iTunes.
It is one of the older songs, purchased from the iTunes Store, sold before Apple switched to selling only unprotected songs.
New iTunes purchases will show "Kind: Purchased AAC audio file" and you can use them.
If you ripped your songs from CDs, some CDs may have an embedded protection and cannot be used as well. But any song you recorded from the radio or older vinyl records will work with GarageBand.
All songs sold from iTunes after 2009 are now supposed to be without digital rights attached.
It is unlikely, that the particular song you want to purchase will still be protected.

Thanks, Leonie -- In my case, after exporting my slideshow from Photos (without a sound track) as a video, and importing it to a movie track in Garageband, I would want to use parts of commercial songs, probably from iTunes.
I saw, via your Garageband help link, that "You can import audio files of the following file types into a GarageBand project: AIFF, CAF, WAV, AAC (except protected AAC files), Apple Lossless, and MP3."
Would commercial songs in iTunes be one of those file types?

Thanks, Leonie - I think I understand, but I don't know how to get the info you show. I went to iTunes 12.7.3, clicked on a song (I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face, by Rex Harrison), and I could play 30 secs of it or say I wanted to purchase it, but nowhere did I see whether it was protected or purchased. Should I just assume it'll say purchased because it would be a "new iTunes purchase"?
