Ipad model A145 (2011)

My Ipad has worked well the past seven years, with heavy usage it had begun to deteriorate a few years ago. Having many glitches and getting slow, it has finally stopped completely. I have had to perform restores about three times in the past, each attempt has always worked; however, today it crashed, and a glitchy screen came up, and then it went blank white and turned off, so far i have tried to complete a factory restore multiple times, i do everything right, follow all the steps, plug into the computer, etc. the computer says the restore is completed and i attempt to "set up as new ipad" but, nothing happens, at all. When i turn the screen on the ipad, a white screen comes up, with a blurred gray rectangular border around the inside. attempting to turn it off does not work whatsoever at this point. And i have attempted a restore about three times now, i fear that there is no hope, but i have no option in getting a new one anytime soon, this ipad contained information thats all very important to me, and i already know even if i got it working again i will have lost months of data due to my last backup being a few months ago, (sept. 2017) but it would be better than nothing.

Is there anything that i could possibly do to restore it, myself that is?

I’m sorry to say i think you’ve done all you can. If you have an apple store or authorized service provider in your area you could make an appointment and take it in to see if they can help you, even if they can just help you with the date.

Unfortunately you may have just experienced the harsh lesson of regular backups.

If your iPad is an A1458, and running iOS 10, then this is a 2012 iPad 4 model.

It is only six years, old.

Your issues could be indicative of a failing or failing battery.

Take it in to your “local” Apple store and let them diagnose your iPad.

If they find that it is a failed battery. Apple CAN replace batteries in iPads for $99.

Your info, because it is stored in flash memory, may still be retained, even with a replaced battery.

If they find something else that they can’t repair, they maybe able to offer you an out of warranty, replacement, refurbished Pad of your exact same model for a discounted price.

You should start thinking about getting a more regular backup strategy for your iPad in the future.

Good Luck to You!

Thank you very much for your reply. I only estimated how old it was, glad to see I was close at least. I actually had an inclination it may have been the battery, I very much have "abused" this iPad for years, using it for long periods of time and then leaving it plugged in for even longer. If what's happening may be a sign of a failing battery, then I think that is the most likely conclusion.

Although about recovering lost data, with a battery replacement I'm unsure if that will work, as I attempted restoring it more than once when it turned white screen. But I would rather have a working iPad without all my info than a broken one with no access to it.

I will try and see if I can find an apple store somewhere near me, and see if it is possible to have it fixed.

Thank you again.

When you do a complete erase and restore of an iPad (with no recent backup), then you will lose the data stored in the flash memory drive.

If Apple just replaces the battery and does NOT have to return the iPad to a factory state, then your data should still be retained on the flash memory drive.

Since you do not havd a recent backup, your data is now in the hands of fate, at this point.

Let’s hope for the best outcome.

Good Luck to You!
