iMessage blocked

Imessaging with a “friend” our whole conversation is in Blue always we got in a fight tonight I was trying to rep to his text and when I send it it sent green and now I have a green arrow are the send arrow which is normally blue name and my phone says sent as an SMS message does this mean he blocked me???

Imessage to SMS I noticed when I text someone with an iphone that the text starts as blue and stays blue for 20-30 seconds but then changes to green. It stays green if I try to text again but then after a few mins it changes to imessage (blue) when I go to send another text. Does this mean I'm blocked by this person? I'm confused as to why it changes back to imessage (blue) after a few minutes if I am blocked. Couldn't find anything online that answers this.
