How to delete previously hidden iCloud songs and videos?

It happened last night. Everything was working fine until then.

Last night it downloaded all music videos I had purchased on to my iPod touch. Including at least three doubles. I don't have videos on my iPod because it takes up my space. That's what my iPad is for. I liked that arrangement. I went through the list trying to delete them. They went away for a few seconds then reappeared!

The same thing happened with songs. I have purchased loads of songs but I don't want them all on my iPod. There's no point to it if I'm not going to listen to them all. And my iPod can only hold a limited amount of songs at a time, otherwise it selects random songs to delete without my knowledge. So for some reason it decided to sync all of the songs from the iCloud on to my iPod. I don't understand why. I don't want to see them on my iPod.

I previously removed their downloads and deleted them from the library. I also hid a bunch of them so they wouldn't be re-downloaded. How do I get rid of them?

The strange thing is my iTunes library on the main computer has the same problem. The songs and videos I previously deleted/hidden were in the library. I can't delete anything it just reappears. My iPad has the same problem. Whilst I have videos on there. I like being the one who decides what videos I want on there and when. I usually download the ones I want and hide the rest until I feel the need for a change.

How do I fix this? Is there a way?

iPod touch, iOS 11.2.6, 6th Generation

Strangely it sorted itself out. The library is back to normal. My iPod is back to normal. This happened whilst it was on sync usb to the computer. I did do a few things though. I unchecked open iphotos window and made sure add photos & videos was unchecked. Include videos was checked, so I unchecked it. I also had the manual add songs and videos unchecked, I decided to check it. I want to control what goes on there. And I turned off the automatic updates and share apps, songs and videos to other devices. So maybe that helped?

The problem lies less on the iPad and more on my iPod touch and my iMac iTunes library.

I just re-realised that it doesn't matter so much on iPad. Removing videos won't actually delete them from the library they'll just go to the cloud. Completely forgot about that. As it turns out my iPad wasn't affected. It doesn't have the unwanted songs on it. Sorry for the confusion.

So lets go back to the actual issue. How I delete songs and videos that refuse to do so and are determined to stay put on my iPod touch and iMac iTunes library? Also It won't let me hide songs anymore. It performs the same old trick, reappears after a few seconds. The only thing it will let me do is remove downloads.

Even though none of them have actually downloaded. I hate seeing them on the library. I originally had them deleted off or hidden from the library. For example; under Albums I have two albums titled Aaja Nachle. One has the title song on it, which I have downloaded and the other has the rest of the songs on it with the iCloud arrow icons against them. I only listen to one song. I previously removed the downloads of the other songs and was able to delete them from the library on my iPod. Then on my main computer on the iTunes library I hid the songs.

I'm used to being able to delete things from my library and hide them until I want them again. It's worrying that my iMac has the same issues. It was my understanding that the main library was safe. You know if you had a problem on one device, you could sort it out without problem on the main computer on iTunes.

Also do you think resetting it might work? Back to factory settings? I've heard you have to remove the songs first. Does that mean remove the downloads so they show the cloud symbol or does it mean remove as in delete them off the library completely? The first one I can do, the second it won't let me do.

Great news! My iPod sorted itself out through the sync. Everything that wasn't supposed to be on there has been removed and deleted from the library! Weird but true.

I'm left with a strange thing though on my main computer on iTunes. Basically all of my hidden downloads have made copies of themselves and are present on the main library. According to my account they should be all hidden from sight. All the songs in my account have the unhide button option against them. I haven't touched any of them. It seems to have done it on it's own. What usually happens is when you unhide something it disappears from the hidden section and goes to your library. For some reason these songs are both in the hidden section and on the library. Thinking about it that's the reason why I can't hide the songs. Because they're already there!
