Question: How do I use EVoc20 for live performance with MainStage3?

Hi, I learned how to use the Evoc20 on LogicProX recently and wanted to use it with MainStage3 since this is the program I'm using for live performances. Here What I did in MainStage (and it's not working):

-Opened up an audio Channel Strip on Input 1 (I tried it mono after it failed in stereo) and Output 1-2
-Then I opened an instrument Channel Strip with the EVoc as the input/instrument (since it is the only way I know how to use the EVoc) Output 1-2.
-Then I go in the Evoc Plug-in window and select Input 1 as the Side Chain

In LogicProX it should be enough to make it work, the EVoc's Channel Strip would receive signal from the audio Channel and would turn the audio channel's volume so I ear the vocals only through the vocoder. But in MainStage, the Evoc's Channel does not receive any signal!
I thought maybe I could select a Bus (bus 1 let's say) as an output for the audio channel and select that bus as the input for the Evoc's channel, but there is no way to have two inputs for one channel, it's either the vocoder or the bus, not both.
I started trouble shooting and tried input 2 intead of input 1 and stuff like that but nothing would make that signal go trough the vocoder's channel.

I tried finding tutorials on internet but I find only tutorials for Logic but already know how to do it in Logic (that's who I learned everything about it).
I read forums but can't find answers.

Is there anyone who has a Youtube channel who could do a step by step guide on how to use the EVoc20 PS live with MainStage3? There's whole lot of them for LogicPro but none for MainStage and it would save headaches to some people.

MainStage, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Answer:

You are doing it correctly.

  1. Create a new patch with one Software Instrument channel.
  2. Insert the EVOC 20 PS and set the sidechain to Input 1 (or the input you use for your microphone.).
  3. Set Signal to: Voc.
  4. Make sure you have the keyboard assigned to the channel strip in the MIDI Input tab.
  5. Start playing and singing.

That's pretty much it.

Hope it helps.

Actually I believed I knew how to record vocoded vocals (live) with Logic but I don't, I messed up. If anyone know how to do it on Logic, the same protocole should be applicable on MainStage.
