Can't restore because itunes error "value is missing"

My old cracked (but still functioning) 6s. Thought I'd just use as camera. Currently says iphone is disabled on phone but when I try to connect/restore from itunes it says "value missing"

You need iTunes 12.7 or later to communicate to iOS 11 or later. It sounds like your iTunes version is obsolete.


iTunes 12.7 requires Windows 7 or later or OS X 10.10.5 or later.


If you have the required operating system version, get iTunes from:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

First, open iTunes. Does it bounce? If not, good ... let's double check the version by doing iTunes > About iTunes from iTunes' menu. Does it say 12.7.3? If so, then plug in the iPhone. If iTunes then bounces and says "value missing", then follow the advice in the article I attached above. Here is the article again:

Are you using a Mac? It sounds like you are from this behavior. What version of MacOS / OS X?


The fact that the iTunes icon is bouncing indicates some issue that iTunes wants resolved. The fact that this bouncing occurs before the iPhone is even plugged in indicates some issue not involving the iPhone. Determine what that is, then proceed. (Click on the bouncing iTunes icon to reveal what it's asking of you.)
