Need help! Having issues deleting music in iTunes library

I have been having issues with my iTunes library. I am currently going through my library and trying to delete older songs/artists I no longer listen to. However once I have deleted the songs I want to delete, they pop up with a cloud and a down arrow. Next it only allows me to hide the song or album. A few seconds later the song/album comes back with the same cloud and down arrow next to the song or artist or album. The same thing is happening on my iPhone? Can anyone please help me to fix this?

I would just like to permanently delete these artists/albums/songs.

They appear with a cloud because you use iCloudMusic Library with Apple Music or Match.

The hiding feature with Apple is currently experiencing problems. Many posts about it over the last 24 hours. Wait for them to fix it.

You're not alone. Something seems to have gone wrong with the way hidden purchases are handled at the moment. There have been some repairs already as earlier confirmation prompts weren't being shown when things were hidden, and it wasn't possible to get to the hidden purchases management page in the account area. Those are fixed, but I'm still seeing what should be hidden content in iTunes, iOS and Apple TV, and if I attempt to hide anything it pops back after a second or two.

It isn't clear how widespread this problem is, but use Feedback - iTunes - Apple to let Apple know this is affecting you too.
