MacOS 10.13.3

My Mac (v10.13.3) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 will not activate the screensaver. I've set the values at different times and waited for the allotted period of time but, nothing happens. Does anyone have recommendations or suggestions?

Thank you,

Some backgound processes may caused that, as can oler USB devices. Do you have any anti-virus or so-called "cleaning/tune-up" apps installed? This Apple article may help:

If your Mac doesn't sleep or wake when expected - Apple Support

If you have a lot of USB devices attached (other than a mouse and keyboard), disconnect them, restart the computer and test.

If you are not sure what is installed (i.e., someone else did the iniotial setup for you or another had access to your admin acct) you can post a snapshot of your configuration that may help us better diagnose the problem. Fortunately there is a safe and secure way to do that.

A respected and long-serving member of these communities has created a simple utility that will take a "snapshot" of your configuration without revealing any sensitive information about you and your computer. It is Etrecheck, and is available here:

http://etrecheck.com/

Run it, select Report" from the left-hand pane (scroll down to fond) and, when its report displays in the main pane, click the "Share Report" icon and then "Copy Report" from the resulting dropdown. Paste the entire report into a response to your own thread here. It will allow us to quickly identify or eliminate software as the problem.

Allen,

Thank you for replying to my message so quickly and for your assistance. Yes, I did have a lot of additional items plugged in the UBS ports (backup drive, data drives, fan, scanner, printer, etc.). So I removed them, restarted and tested. The screensaver activated. I then plugged each UBS in at a time and tested - and the screensaver activated. So, I did not use the "Etrecheck" - couldn't figure out what the cost would be.

So activation worked BUT, now I have an additional question about the screensaver f(x).

There are 500 photos in a folder that I've designated for this task.

Screensaver will display the first 60 (or so) photos and recycle those 60 photos. It will not incorporate the remaining 440 photos into the screensaver mix. Is this normal? Is there a limit that screensaver will allow to be shown? It seems like a silly question and I've been using iMac for quite some time, but this seems peculiar to me and of course, with each "upgrade" in software, there are always issues. Do you need to look at the Etrecheck log?

Thank you in advance,
