Re-installing FCP 7

Do I need to delete an existing FCP 7 before installing a recently purchased FCP 7?
My older MacBook Pro became too expensive to repair so I loaded all my files and apps from my Time Machine, but during a move I lost the box with serial # to open FCP.
Running OSX 10.7.5 on a MacBook Pro. I'm old and slow and still not yet ready for FCP X.

Also what is there a later OSX upgrade that still supports FCP 7, or should I just stay with 10.7.5?

Have you tried to use your "new" serial number to open your existing FCP 7 installation?

If you do have to install your recently purchased FCP 7 ( FCS 3) then you can delete your existing by using

FCS Remover from Digital Rebellion which is very reliable and free.

You might want to consider removing the whole FCS suite and reinstall again.

After reinstalling you will need this Pro Applications Update to bring you up to the latest versions.

Pro Applications Update 2010-02

Stay with 10.7.5 if you want to continue with FCP 7.

No need to reinstall. Just enter the new serial number when asked by the system.

The last version of OSX Final Cut Pro was certified to run on was 10.6.8. Any version beyond that is a bit of a gamble.

FWIW, I've run FCP 7 on 10.11 and 10.12 without issues but your mileage may vary. The Final Cut Suite will absolutely not run on 10.13 (aka High Sierra).
