Just got a new ipad pro and I cannot open apple news on it! No problem on iphone and other ipads. I can only see the app in the app store where it shows the “open” button, but nothing happens when I tap on it. Any ideas as to what is going on?

I finally figured it out!
in settings, language, then region, make sure United States is selected! I had never notoced mine was set to Antigua! News only works in the US I think (don’t know if Canada would work...)

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with the News app not opening on your iPad and I am happy to help out! First, I suggest going to this article to Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and search for the News app on your iPad. Then try opening the application once it is found. If it is not found, please fo to Settings > General > Reset and then tap Reset Home ScreenLayout. This will reset the home screen and allow you to see if News app shows up on your home screen.

Update:
after installing ios 11.3, when I tap the “open” button in the app store, I get a notification that “Restrictions Enabled To use this app, turn Restrictions off”
i do not have restrictions different from any of my other devices. When I turns all restrictions off, I still cannot open the app and get the same message. Very frustrating. I tried to do a complete reset of the ipad and nothing changed...

I see some articles (3-4) on the search page, but it is not an access to the app like on my other devices. Very weird...
My problem is the same.
My restrictions are off.
I did see when comparing with anither iphone that the other phone had an entry for the news app. Whereas my phone does not.
This issue does need some real help please!!!
