You Tube - no 1080p option

Having got sick of ads on YT I binned the app and trying to view on Safari, Firefox, Chrome.

Works well but the above-title option is not available. IE the option to choose higher than 720p is missing. Most of my clips are @ 1080p @ 60fps and play at that res. just fine on other devices. I have 1080p set in my YT a/c as display preference, only my new iPad 4 mini 128gb seems unable/unwilling to comply. It won’t show any res. choice higher than 720p!

Having googled around about this it’s clear that this is no new complaint.

My far from new Samsung S6 phone shows the 1080p option and plays it just fine... But my ultra expensive Apple device would appear unable to match it.

All updates are in place for ios11...

I’m no Apple fanboy for a variety of reasons, and freely admit I‘m a reluctant Apple-ist. There were software reasons why an Apple device was needed over Android because of DJI’s Android app that I needed was- flakier than the Apple one. But things like this aren’t an effective recruiting device!

The Android app may have different options than the iOS app. This would be controlled by the app developer, not Apple. There may be many reasons for the disparity. None of which can be known here.

I assume you have consulted Youtube's resources with the question as well.
