Apple Watch Bluetooth interfering with in car calls

I have an iPhone X (iOS 11.2.6) and an Apple Watch 2 (iOS 4.2.3), both the latest software available at this time.

People regularly complain that I sound ”Very Crackly” when I’m on a phone call whilst in my car and using the bluetooth hands free which came with the car from the factory (Audi).

The car has been back to Audi for investigation but whilst I was in the Brand New Audi Loan car the same thing happened, so it’s not a car issue !

Through some time of trying things out, I’ve established that the problem is the Apple Watch !! If I turn the Watch on to Airplane Mode the Crackling disappears, instantly.

Any idea of a fix for this please ??

I am having the same problem in my car.

iPhone X and Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular. (iOS 11.3)

People complain that I sound very bad (robotic / cutting in and out / distorted).

If I put my apple watch in airplane mode while talking to them, the problem goes 100% away and I sound perfect to the caller. If I take the watch back online (turn off airplane mode on the watch) the problem comes back.

100% repeatable.

Looking for solutions.
