News Widget Gone

That didn’t work for me. No red icon other than the CBC News app from the App Store, which I don’t want. Funnily though when I swipe to the side and type ‘news’ in the search bar, the news does come up... about three news articles with the option to ‘show more’ like the news widget had. See screenshot below. It’s just super frustrating that the actual widget is gone, that I have to type ‘news’, and that to have scroll through all the other search suggestions for the word ‘news’.

Like many others, I’m from Canada, have had the news widget for a long time, and it suddenly disappeared a couple weeks ago. I’m on an iPhone SE fyi. Other than Apple’s incompetent responses, what I truly don’t understand is why is the news widget limited to the US, the UK, and Australia in the first place? Why not make it available to everybody, especially when a lot of people seem to have it in spite of it not being available?

This doesn’t work for me. I’m in Canada and can no longer find the red news widget or app by any means in the App Store or the search bar on my iPhone 6 or iPad mini 4. Uninstall used apps toggled on and languag/region switched to U.S. on both devices.

I don’t understand step number 3 in this process. I never had a News app previously. (Just the widget which was super convenient. If I clicked on a story I was interested in, it would link to it via Safari.)

Does this solution you are referring to require finding “the” or “a” News app, then download it. Then “edit” widgets, add the app to Widgets? (Does this News App have just the letter N on it? White and red? I never paid attention to it before.)

Now when I select a story it links me to the app instead of Safari. Is this what is happening for others?

Dear Apple customer service: super disappointed that so many people are complaining of the same issue and the only response given is the ridiculous, non-helpful response at the start of this thread. Pathetic. Come up with a useful solution. POST IT to everyone who has complained. Oh, and were you and the rest of Apple aware that there are more countries selling iPhones than the 3 countries listed in your response? Check it out. It’s legit. More than 3 countries.

I have the opposite problem. The news widget works fine on my iPhone 7 but it disappeared from my iPad mini. It works fine on my wife’s iPad. We live in Canada.

Hi. I had a sane issues too. Just realized that the news widget gone. Please help at least explain on why the widget gone. We need it in our daily life as we can read the news easily
