iTunes 12.7.4 Album Artwork Display

Hello, is anyone else having album artwork display issues under iTunes 12.7.4.76? Under Albums view not all of my album art thumbnails are displaying. I tried deleting the artwork cache but I am still having the same problem. The artwork appears to still be imbedded in the file, but it won't display. It's probably a bug and I have sent a report but I want to see if anyone else is having the same issue?

It will likely be fixed with the next release of iTunes. Or the one after that. You should use Feedback - iTunes - Apple so Apple can get an idea of how many users this issue is affecting. You might also want to go back to iTunes 12.7.3.

Step by step guide to rolling back to iTunes 12.7.3 on a Mac.

  1. Close iTunes
  2. Install iTunes 12.6.4, but don't run it
  3. Open Home > Music > iTunes > Previous iTunes Libraries in Finder, or the relevant folder if library is stored elsewhere.
  4. Locate the file with the date when you updated to iTunes 12.7.4, copy it
  5. Go up one level to the iTunes folder and paste
  6. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library NEW.itl
  7. Rename the dated file as iTunes Library.itl
  8. Install iTunes 12.7.3
  9. Open iTunes

Your library should be restored to the exact state it was in when you closed it prior to installing iTunes 12.7.4. You can add the media folder to the library to import any additions since then.

My solution was a drastic one. New library was created ( having exported all my playlists and then import after new library created ) and all is well.

All covers are now showing. I lost my song ratings but hey-ho. Other downside is resyncing IOS devices as they are now attached to a new library ( which takes a while if you are downsampling to the IOS device as well as syncing as I am am, trying to squeeze 500GB of music on a 160GB device.

But, everything is now showing consistently.

Same behavior here, quite annoying. Seems Apple's quality level is decreasing in every new version, no quality control seems to be involve as every new Apple's software version ( from the different OS to the apps ) is full of new bugs and previous one many times are not resolved. May be after 20 years is time to move away to a more serious platform.

Yes, same here. If you switch to a different view such as track/song list vIew and then back again the missing artwork appears but scroll further down your album view and you will come across some more missing artwork, switch view and back again and the artwork appears!

It's a bug and very annoying, after having been stable for many recent updates. It beggars belief how this passed through BETA testing. Fix it Apple!

I have this exact issue as well when I updated iTunes to 12.7.

I thought I was going mad seeing my missing artwork especially after spending a ton of time on getting artwork for each of my albums in the first place, but this thread has toned down my frustration seeing how other people have the same problem.

Unfortunately, it isn't fixed yet but I have faith in Apple.

Yup! Same here. Just received the 12.7.5.9 update, and sure enough… those missing (blank white) album covers are still missing. Would be nice if Apple could actually FIX some of the bugs we diligently report to them when they roll out a new update. I mean…. it's not as if this problem has not been highlighted for some time, is it? Would have never happened in Steve Jobs day!!

Darn, I also updated iTunes to the latest version (12.7.5.9) hoping that it would fix this minor, easy to fix issue (at least for a company as big as Apple) with the missing artwork but it didn't.

Come on Apple, you shouldn't let these small, minor, but annoying bugs plague your software. You're better than this.

I have just bought a new iMac with OS 12.7.5.9

The white album cover issue drove me mad until I discovered this discussion. I am still mad but at least I am not alone.

I guess apple never reads these discussions or if they do, they don't give a toss about degrading existing programs when they issue "updates". Almost everyone (exceptions being apple people) agrees that an upgrade to anything should result in an increase in performance not a decrease.

Apple should stop referring to upgrades and refer to "altered program behaviour generally resulting in decreases in usability and performance and removal of previously useful features".
