High Sierra 10.13.4 mail problems

We are using two computers: MBpro 2015 and iMac 2011. Following update to 10.13.4, IMAP accounts are ok in Mail, but POP accounts are not working. All work fine on an iPhone, and also with an older MacBook running Snow Leopard. We set up a new email account with another email provider using Safari, but we can't get Mail to set it up as a POP account in 10.13.4, though we could on Snow Leopard.

In existing POP accounts an error 'unable to verify certificate' warning shows after trying to fetch mail on both 10.13.4 computers. If we click 'continue', nothing appears to happen, but we can then fetch mail by right-clicking on each mail account, although not by clicking 'get mail' or by setting to fetch mail automatically. When trying to troubleshoot this, the Mail app in 10.13.4 is either not saving changes to server settings (eg to SSL settings) in the older POP accounts, or is over-riding them (on both 10.13.4 computers). This and the inability to set up a new POP account with a different provider suggests to me the issue is not the Trust Certificate, but the settings.

We appreciate the benefits of the various IMAP accounts we have, but would like to have our POP accounts working as well. We've tried simple stuff like rebuilding mailboxes, resetting NVRAM, starting in safe mode, and restarting following each change of settings.

I've submitted a feedback form to Apple, and as I've said we can actually get new emails after some effort, so should we just wait for the next update, or is there anything else worth trying?

I managed to partially solve this myself. On the MBPro, disconnected it from internet, forced a change to settings and restarted, then entered correct settings and reconnected it to internet. New POP email account was then set up.

I decided to reset our broadband connection, and was then able to set up several new POP accounts on the iMac while online. The old ones still give errors, but obviously may actually be a certificate problem, and we're moving from them anyway.

For reference the set up process I did was from Mail preferences panel (not accounts) click add account, enter details, which gave an error panel, where I could enter the server names and select POP, the account then set up automatically. Thanks to the community members who posted these suggestions previously.

You don't know how happy I am now, I thought that I'm the only one who has this kind of problem.

I had an issue with keychain since some time already. After one of the iOS updates, at each iOS run I was receiving popups with request to give keychain password for processes like sharingd, routined, Safari. After contacting mac/iTunes support and digging in the network for weeks I found that to make them disappear/solve the issue I need to delete my keychain.... Which can't be done, at least now, because I have there like 1k of passwords for different apps, accounts, and others that I need to run my companies. The funny thing is that you can't copy and paste all of them together to the new keychain, you need to go manually one by one... So this situation was ongoing (I got used to it) till last update to HS 10.13.4, all of the popups disappeared also the one from Safari. Is it better now?

**** no, Safari is not asking about addition of new passwords to the keychain automatically or even using them on websites that require login (before it was working perfect), I have an impression that some of the passwords I got in keychain aren't there any longer and I don't know where they are.

Finally - mac mail. What happened? I'm using few email accounts in order to sort them between private, business, online shopping, etc. Since few days I need to change passwords once or twice a day to be able to use mac mail. There are no issues on my iPhone (so far, so good - don't know for how long). The issues I have are with exchange and zoho servers. Logging to them through websites works, no issues at all. With mac mail - impossible, only after password change works till next system run. I added exchange account yesterday (there was migration from other server), so it's new and it doesn't work as well. Google, Linkedin, iCloud, iTunes account works normally, exchange and zoho not. When I go to zoho account email settings (in mac mail) and I type password, I got this message: "Unable to store credential due to error -25308 Requested By: Mail" for incoming email server, for outgoing works. In case of exchange - I can type there my password but it's not remembered nor working.

This is very frustrating and I'd like to get a solution soon. However solution, like - "please delete your mail accounts together with all of the messages, contacts, keychains, etc." is not something that I'll accept. I switched from Windows to iOS and for some time I was extremely happy and under huge impression of this system - no errors, works smoothly, perfect, communication between devices is great. Now, after more than two years I see that's not so perfect anymore. In my opinion for the price of the devices (mac book pro, iPhone 6, iPad) that I'm using every day this kind of errors shouldn't take place and even if (nobody's perfect) you should get an advice or solution better than the one saying "Delete everything and start all over".

I hope that someone will take my message under consideration and try to fix at least mac mail problem.

Yesterday evening, within a few minutes of each other, both computers allowed us to verify the certificate after clicking continue (see first post) and the original pop accounts are now working again as previously. My guess is some sort of Apple patch was issued, but I suppose we'll never know.

I just updated to High Sierra 10.13.4. Both my IMAP mail accounts not accepting my passwords.

Had a nightmare time trying to get on keychain, would not accept my apple id password. couldn't get any "advanced" tab on keychain on my iphone. Had to disable icloud to remove keychain on my iphone to be able to sign into keychain via my icloud on my MBpro. I have shutdown and restarted twice. I have reset my passwords three times on my server!

Still cannot get access on my MBpro for my emails!! This is why I hate updating my OS! There's always some glitch that takes hours or days to get fixed. I've spent the last 5 hours searching and trying every different option. To boot i live in Barbados so there's no darn Apple Care here to call.

If anyone has had this problem or can think of something else i can try please let me know. Right now I'm looking to restore my older version!

MacOS 10.13.4 is crap! I have downloaded and reinstalled it twice.

* iCloud server is either down or does not link

* My Apple Account locked and the "automated system" (sic) won't unlock it or give the instructions to my mobile how to do so.

* Apple/System Preferences does not launch

I have stopped recommending iMac/MacOS/Retina screen to keen other photographers in my circle or on public websites.

Pity!

I have similar problems since 3 days ago.

1. My pop mail cannot sign in and keep giving me Unable to store credential due to error -25308 Requested By: Mail or unable to verify.

2. I cannot sign in to my icloud

3. safari does not accept save password

4. now my one drive also cannot log in

I did try to create a new user id, which it works in the new user id, but I cannot access to all my file which is lock in the initial user id. I think I still can manage to transfer all my files (almost 400 Gbs) to the new user id, but when I open my pararel desktop, they ask me to buy a windows OS, new Microsoft office ( in my line of biz, I still have to use some microsoft windows based software) which is unacceptable for me.

Please share any solution to solve this. And there is no apple store in my country as well.

It makes people feel better to know that others also have similar problems, but as there have been no real answers, I would suggest that it would be better if people started new threads rather than posting in this one. A new question may be answered by those with more knowledge of the system. There are guidelines on how to post a question, which I tried to follow with my initial post. Feedback of the problem to Apple also may help others in the future.
