EarPods pause/play/skip not working correctly

Not exactly sure which part of this forum this problem belongs in, but this one seems to be the closest.

I just updated my itunes to the newest version, and now the pause/play button on the EarPod only pauses/plays the song for a fraction of a second, before returning to being paused/played. (For example, I am playing the song, I press pause, it pauses for a fraction of a second before continuing to play). The skip also does not work correctly, because it skips the song playing and the next song instead of only skipping the song that is playing. I can do those correctly with the controls on the keyboard, but the controls on the EarPods do not seem to work correctly.

Everything on the EarPods were working correctly before updating it, but now it doesn't work correctly. Is there any way to make it work correctly again?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I understand that the Pause/Play button no your EarPods only pauses (Or plays) for a brief moment before turning back to the opposite state. In addition, you've found that the skip function doesn't work either, as it skip the current and net track, instead of only the current song. I'm happy to help!

First, take a look at the "If the buttons on your Apple EarPods don't work" section of If your headphones don't work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support , which states:

Check for debris in the gap between the top and bottom covers of your remote.

Gently tap the remote to dislodge debris. If you still see debris, brush it away with a soft-bristled brush that's clean and dry.

If your remote still doesn't work, contact Apple Support.
