Microphone not working on iPhone 7

When making phone calls I cannot hear the other person, and they can't hear me. My voice memos app won't let me record anything in order to test the microphone and speakers. If i take a video, there is no sound. I can get sound on previous videos though. Siri can't hear me. I took my phone to the genius bar a couple days ago, and they did a factory reset. It didn't fix the issue. He said he ran diagnostics, and only told me that I should buy a new battery. I just did apple chat, and was told I need to take it in for a hardware issues. Any other ideas? Is this going to cost me a replacement?

I have the issues too, just saw an article on idrop talking about it. It looks to be related to latest SW update messing with the HW. I took the phone in last week (05/04/2018). They ran a few tests, at first, device not supported for them to run test, then they did a network reset and it helped for the test (some type of audio test), it passed them, they said you are good, tired a couple fo calls, worked, about 5 minutes later, got a call from wife, same issues, went back and this time after multiple resets etc, everything failed. Just opened a new Genius bar ticket to have reviewed. As an FYI, you can use bluetooth and it does take calls etc. (temp. solution). It is just from the physical phone that we cannot.

I find it crazy how my email allows me to see what people comment and then when you click on discussion it is gone. They’ve deleted two of mine already. I guess they don’t like being trashed online. It’d be nice if they fixed their mistake!! After some searching, maaaany people are having this issue so to **** me it’s a hardware issue doesn’t seem right. I have my phone with a cover and all, still in mint condition, and for what? Can’t even get it replaced.

I faced the same issue with the microphone with the iPhone 7 and 1 year and 10 months old. Apple suggests doing replacement at my own costs 359 Euro. Unbelievable how apple cares about the customer and the problem. Apple Support said it is a hardware issue and could not be caused by software updates. Terrible support.

My mic died slowly at one day stopped working. I reboot it one time, and it starts working again after 10-15 mins ended one more time, but the reboot did not help now. I did network settings reset, and the iPhone starts working again for 15 mins and after that stopped forever. Either reboot, reset, delete all data helps now. I think this arrogance playing the waiting game is very disappointing for such a company like apple.

I can plug my phone into my car and I’m able to use my phone. I can’t use the ear phones though because I tried plugging those in to use my phone but it didn’t work. It’s really inconvenient to have to run to the car to answer phone calls or to make them. I’m thinking of switching too. I’ve talked to multiple Apple support people and no help. They act like this isn’t an issue but apparently it is. They need to acknowledge it!

I am facing exactly same issue. I woke up in the morning and all of a sudden this issue happened. Many of my family members and friends are also complaining about such issues with iPhones. And the service centre is asking me big sum of money to replace the iPhone.

It seems Apple is resorting to wrong practices now. Apple has lost its credibility in my mind. I can say it with full conviction that I’ll never buy Apple products in future, also I’ll ask my closed ones to refrain from getting into the trap of Apple. They are literally cheating us.

Very bad on the part of a firm of this stature.

Well

Same problem

But I went to apple store and the apple guy diagnosed that charging port or dacking is not good and they cannot fix it

Offered me new iPhone. For $350 because old one cant be fixed

But I ordered the part for my old iphone and replaced it. It was working for 1 hour and stoped for 2 hours and then started working later for 10 minuets and stoped for good.

Sobthe question is/ Is this hardware or software Problem

Unbelievable

That is how you get reach probably by forcing people to buy new phones

I know it’s been a couple of months, but with the recent release of IOS 12 and it’s betas, I have been having the same issue. I haven’t gotten anything checked out for hardware issues, but from what I’ve done for research it seems like a software issue, so all I can recommend for anyone reading is to wait a little and give feedback until they fix it.

Sigh. Just got done with Apple Support through their chat. Completely useless. They want $419 + tax to fix a phone that is less than 2 years old, for a problem that clearly seems to be a defect on their end. Thankfully I normally use a bluetooth headset, so I will nurse this along for now. Maybe Apple will be forced to step up like they did with the batteries on the iPhone 6. If not, I strongly suspect my next phone is not from Apple.
