Microphone not working on iPhone 7

My comments keep getting deleted. My mic still doesn’t work. I can plug my phone into my car and use it to talk and use it to make videos where you can hear me. I tried my ear phones and it don’t work. You can’t hear from the earphones but you can unplug it and hear sound. Very frustrating I can’t use my phone to talk unless I go to my car to plug it in. I’ve done a reset to my phone fully and it didn’t work. I didn’t want to upgrade yet and I don’t want to pay for a replacement especially if the issue is going to occur again. I’m seriously thinking of switching to Samsung.

They wouldn’t replace mine. I was going to have to pay to get it fixed or pay for an upgrade. This was going to the Genius Bar. He said that it showed to be a hardware issue after he did the diagnostic test. I told him it started after I did the update though and he said apparently I had the issue already and the update just brought it out, if that makes sense.

That’s ridiculous if that’s Apple’s excuse. This problem is caused by weak soldering at the factory. It is similar to iPhone 6’s touch disease.

I run a small company and if we produce a bad product, we fix it.

Apple is a trillion dollar company. This is just unethical.

I find it crazy how my email allows me to see what people comment and then when you click on discussion it is gone. They’ve deleted two of mine already. I guess they don’t like being trashed online. It’d be nice if they fixed their mistake!! After some searching, maaaany people are having this issue so to **** me it’s a hardware issue doesn’t seem right. I have my phone with a cover and all, still in mint condition, and for what? Can’t even get it replaced.

I faced the same issue with the microphone with the iPhone 7 and 1 year and 10 months old. Apple suggests doing replacement at my own costs 359 Euro. Unbelievable how apple cares about the customer and the problem. Apple Support said it is a hardware issue and could not be caused by software updates. Terrible support.

So sad. After reading all these posts in here I can say this will be my last Apple product. Now I know for sure my iPhone 7 is going to die in near future.

What happens if I update past 11.4 (the mic is working fine with 11.4)? Or not updating at all? The mic is going to die no matter you update or not?

It’s hard to say. My mic stopped working when I updated to 11.4.

It’s very possible that all iPhone 7’s will eventually develop this issue. I think Apple is just playing the waiting game so they don’t have to repair most of them.

My mic died slowly at one day stopped working. I reboot it one time, and it starts working again after 10-15 mins ended one more time, but the reboot did not help now. I did network settings reset, and the iPhone starts working again for 15 mins and after that stopped forever. Either reboot, reset, delete all data helps now. I think this arrogance playing the waiting game is very disappointing for such a company like apple.

I have the same problem. I have bought iPhones for my family since iphone came out and I think it’s time to switch to Samsung. It was after their update the speaker quit. And they’re not owning up to it.

I can plug my phone into my car and I’m able to use my phone. I can’t use the ear phones though because I tried plugging those in to use my phone but it didn’t work. It’s really inconvenient to have to run to the car to answer phone calls or to make them. I’m thinking of switching too. I’ve talked to multiple Apple support people and no help. They act like this isn’t an issue but apparently it is. They need to acknowledge it!

Same problem occur to me... and the excuses are... Hardware...

After downloading the last software version it stop working at all... it is frustrating... does somebody know if there is going to be a new release of the software to fix it or not?

It looks like it is not possible to solve the problem through updates. Feedback from Apple It is a hardware problem and the HW problem cannot be caused by sw updates. Bottom line pay for repairing your iPhone

I'm having the same problem, but I've been told it only applies to certain model numbers. Mine is A1778. Apparently that is not one of the ones that Apple thinks this problem is affecting, so they won't replace mine or fix it. Although I know many Apple products, this is my first iphone. I'm leaning towards going back to android.

I am facing exactly same issue. I woke up in the morning and all of a sudden this issue happened. Many of my family members and friends are also complaining about such issues with iPhones. And the service centre is asking me big sum of money to replace the iPhone.

It seems Apple is resorting to wrong practices now. Apple has lost its credibility in my mind. I can say it with full conviction that I’ll never buy Apple products in future, also I’ll ask my closed ones to refrain from getting into the trap of Apple. They are literally cheating us.

Very bad on the part of a firm of this stature.
