iTunes stuck on "Reading photos from Pictures"

I checked for updates in iTunes and did it direct from there. I've been trawling forums looking for answers and nothing has worked so far. I'm dreading the complete uninstall and re-download of everything. With all my photos that may well be the point where as much as I love Apple I actually just give up and throw in the towel.

Were you able to ressolve this issue. Mine has been stuck on”reading photos from pictures” for 12 hours!!! I do have 15500 I am trying to sync. I have deleted and installed iTunes and have all the up to date running systems. I have also deleted the “photo cache”. Should I just terminate and try and use a different system like Dropbox?

I posted in the chat in May and I did all the things everyone suggested, and nothing worked for me. It's still not working. I used an old version of iTunes and that worked. When everyone said the newer version fixed this problem, I updated to the newest iTunes and it didn't work for me. I can't even let it run overnight like someone suggested because it goes through the process and then just stops like it was updated but no new pictures go on to my phone. It actually erased two albums for me. I also did a total erase of my phone and restored it and that worked, but I couldn't add any more photos to the album, plus when I was transferring the photos, iTunes wouldn't copy all at once. I had to run iTunes for a few days to get all the photos on. It kept stopping. So everyone has been very helpful on this thread, but it didn't work for me. I hope it works for you.

It worked once but clearing cache/hard reset etc nothing seems to work. Does APPLE intend to solve this or they just don't care. I am not sure what the issue is, can they at least try and share some official statement or resolution???

Hi Mark. It isn't fixed for me. I upgraded to the new iTunes after downgrading to fix the situation and it didn't work at all. When I get time I want to downgrade again, but unfortunately,I have to remember everything I added to iTunes as far as music when I downgrade because going backwards doesn't give you the most up-to-date music you added. It's very frustrating. Wish this would get fixed.

I have tried everything, and even with updating to the latest Itunes 12.8 it just cancels sync. I have tried a hard reset/deleting ipod cache but it just will not sync my photos. Is Apple ever going to fix this I need to sync my photos - its chaotic to have everything on camera roll. Its been over three months.

What you have detailed is not workable? Step 1, I have it in place already. Step 2, My computer is original Windows 10 can't change to photo viewer. Step 3 and 4, they are already in place.

I thought I resolved the issue with Apple Support. But, now I find that my iPad Air will not add new photos through iTunes. Deleting a photo folder from iPad then syncing it back from PC through iTunes, resulted in an empty shell. What happened, I noticed, is the iTunes NO LONGER gets STUCK on "Reading photos from computer", it proceeds to Step 5 "Preparing to copy items", then it waits and exits abruptly without counting down the number of items to be copied. In other words, iTunes is unable to copy photos to the device at the very last of the last step. I find my other iDevices are having the same problem.

Worked once - synced all my photo albums...but then, right back to the same old.

Ya well iOS 11.4 isn’t going to rectify the solution either! I am now running iOS 11.4 beta

It is iTunes causing the problem rather than 11.3 plus I suspect 11.4 beta was already prepared before this problem was spotted.

I have the same problem syncing an Iphone8 plus to a windows 10 P C

Only happened after an iTunes upgrade. It was working fine before the software upgrade.

Same problem here with the new iOS and iTunes. Sync stalls in "Reading photos from..." It's been attached for 4 hours and hasn't budged and there is no drive activity on my photo drive.

Same issue here. I only got 12 K photos.
