[Problem Solved]

Dear all!

If you are having the same problem as disscussed above, please find a professional iPhone repair store and ask them to check the audio IC, it’s a tiny little chip on the mother board.

I got my iPhone 7 Plus audio IC replaced today for ¥400 (around US$60), and the problem is solved! All phone functions back to normal, phone calls normal, voice memo working, etc.

Tips: If your phone is still under warranty, please search help from Apple Store. If not, get the audio IC checked, and most likely it will work for you as well.

Again, this is not a software problem, it’s the hardware issue, another new update won’t fix it!

So I got an appointment with Genius Bar yesterday and they said that this is an Apple issue. Their update (not sure which version) caused the microphone to malfunction and the bug hasn't been fixed since then. They did a diagnostics with my phone and told me that it cannot be repaired so they are going to replace my device - at ZERO cost! Note that I am out of my 1-year warranty but since this issue is known to Apple, they waived the replacement fee around AUD 489. Walked out the store with my new iPhone 7.

This exact problem happened to me this past weekend (5/20/18), after updating my iOS.

I made a genius appointment at the store and the guy that helped me was already aware of this issue. Apple are replacing phones that have this problem, no questions asked. I'm way over my two year warranty and walked out with a working phone after 30 mins.

I am having the same issue grayed out the speaker, the add call, the FaceTime, and I can’t hear when I make a call. This all happened out since I have updated my OS To 11.4. I called Apple support and they just guide me through how to reset which did nothing to help the problem and I

also having problem with the Apple screen stayin on for like 5 to 10 minutes after shutting it down to back to normal screen this is rediculous.

I have check with expert they are telling its a hardware issue with AUDIO IC CHIP, so sensitive IC’s which have got affected. This is not recommend to give normal techniciation to rectify this issue.

Better check with Apple service center, Some of them they have replaced the phone free of cost, some of the places they charged money from customer to replace IC’s.

Regards,

Ibrahim

I have faced the similar issue on Aug 11 and worked with Apple remote support to restore the phone as well as reset network settings. This did not fix the issue and I was setup a genius bar appointment. Apple reps told me this is a known issue that occurs on some iPhone 7 and 7+ and it cannot be repaired. The only solution is phone replacement, Becuase my phone is out of warranty I will have to pay $349 + tax for a replacement. I spoke to a supervisor as well and was told there is not much they can do as they have been instructed by Apple it is a hardware problem. This was a little upsetting but I had no choice but to pay up and get a working phone. I am not very sure, what our options are at this moment. A software upgrade should not kill a working phone.

Hi, I was facing the same issue on iPhone 7+ running iOS 11.4.1
Based on what I read on this forum (and unfortunately didn't help me) I went to Settings > General > Accessibility > Call Audio routing -> set the option to Speaker -> Soft reset the iPhone by pressing and holding Volume down & power buttons.
Then in Call Audio Routing, set back the option to Automatic.

This is covered in this thread. To summarize: Audio chip on logic board is no longer making good connection. Your options:

1) Pay Apple for out of warranty repair, $350.

2) Trade-in phone for new phone, iPhone 8, XR, XS, etc. Apple will give you $300 trade in for your broken iPhone.

Note: I am not affiliated with this company, I just found them by googling iPhone loop disease

4) ***

I had the same problem and solved it easily with soft reset.

With the screen of your iPhone XS or XR off do this:

  1. Press Volume Up, then release that button
  2. Press Volume Down, then release that button
  3. Press and hold down the Power / Lock button on the right side of iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR
  4. Keep holding the Power / Lock button until you see an  Apple logo appear on the display of iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, or iPhone Xr

There is no use my friend they know well enough what is causing that audio issue, they do all of that just to buy time, as this is a hardware problem, best case they’ll take your phone off you and hand you a replacement so make sure you’ve got you backup before you go there, I fixed two of them yesterday 7 and a 7plus both with no audio sound, microphone or proximity, it’s the audio Chip, in my opinion Apple should take responsibility of this because just like the 6 and the 6plus have this special problem commonly known as the TOUCH DISEASE, it’s the exact problem that the 7 and 7plus have as well and soon it’s going to be very common and I believe their solution will be a 5 year program to fix it or replace your device just like they’ve done now with the 6plus’s

....and then the proximity sensor began glitching and my phone would go black randomly while on YouTube or just scrolling through fb. After that the mic was completely unusable no voice during phone calls, no voice memos, no voice text, no Siri. Then shortly after that the headphones jack wouldn’t let you play music outload with your phone on the charger then it wouldn’t play music through headphones a day later. After researching and going into a couple different stores I will either need to get my audio IC chip replaced or completely replace or upgrade my iphone. (I kinda think Apple is throughing glitches into old phones so that people will upgrade)
