[Problem Solved]

Dear all!

If you are having the same problem as disscussed above, please find a professional iPhone repair store and ask them to check the audio IC, it’s a tiny little chip on the mother board.

I got my iPhone 7 Plus audio IC replaced today for ¥400 (around US$60), and the problem is solved! All phone functions back to normal, phone calls normal, voice memo working, etc.

Tips: If your phone is still under warranty, please search help from Apple Store. If not, get the audio IC checked, and most likely it will work for you as well.

Again, this is not a software problem, it’s the hardware issue, another new update won’t fix it!

This exact problem happened to me this past weekend (5/20/18), after updating my iOS.

I made a genius appointment at the store and the guy that helped me was already aware of this issue. Apple are replacing phones that have this problem, no questions asked. I'm way over my two year warranty and walked out with a working phone after 30 mins.

This is covered in this thread. To summarize: Audio chip on logic board is no longer making good connection. Your options:

1) Pay Apple for out of warranty repair, $350.

2) Trade-in phone for new phone, iPhone 8, XR, XS, etc. Apple will give you $300 trade in for your broken iPhone.

Note: I am not affiliated with this company, I just found them by googling iPhone loop disease

4) ***

I had the same problem and solved it easily with soft reset.

With the screen of your iPhone XS or XR off do this:

  1. Press Volume Up, then release that button
  2. Press Volume Down, then release that button
  3. Press and hold down the Power / Lock button on the right side of iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR
  4. Keep holding the Power / Lock button until you see an  Apple logo appear on the display of iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, or iPhone Xr

There is no use my friend they know well enough what is causing that audio issue, they do all of that just to buy time, as this is a hardware problem, best case they’ll take your phone off you and hand you a replacement so make sure you’ve got you backup before you go there, I fixed two of them yesterday 7 and a 7plus both with no audio sound, microphone or proximity, it’s the audio Chip, in my opinion Apple should take responsibility of this because just like the 6 and the 6plus have this special problem commonly known as the TOUCH DISEASE, it’s the exact problem that the 7 and 7plus have as well and soon it’s going to be very common and I believe their solution will be a 5 year program to fix it or replace your device just like they’ve done now with the 6plus’s

....and then the proximity sensor began glitching and my phone would go black randomly while on YouTube or just scrolling through fb. After that the mic was completely unusable no voice during phone calls, no voice memos, no voice text, no Siri. Then shortly after that the headphones jack wouldn’t let you play music outload with your phone on the charger then it wouldn’t play music through headphones a day later. After researching and going into a couple different stores I will either need to get my audio IC chip replaced or completely replace or upgrade my iphone. (I kinda think Apple is throughing glitches into old phones so that people will upgrade)

This happened to me as well. It is an issue with the most recent update and they're aware of the issue. After spending an hour on the phone with apple support (where they tried to insist it was a hardware problem) they eventually instructed me to get a genius bar appointment. WHICH THERE AREN'T ANY AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST A WEEK (which is a huge problem in my opinion). So I had to go yesterday and try to get a walk in. 4 hours later I walked out with a new phone.

unfortunately they said the engineers are aware of the problem but there isn't a new update and you're going to have to replace your phone. But you won't pay for it at least.

My wife's 7plus is now having this problem. It is being called the "Loop disease". I took her phone into Apple store and they want $350 to repair this. This is a known problem and is similar to the problem with the baseband chip. Basically, fatigue causes the balls (connections) on the audio IC to disconnect from the PCB (printed circuit board).

This one has class action lawsuit written all over it.
