[Problem Solved]

Dear all!

If you are having the same problem as disscussed above, please find a professional iPhone repair store and ask them to check the audio IC, it’s a tiny little chip on the mother board.

I got my iPhone 7 Plus audio IC replaced today for ¥400 (around US$60), and the problem is solved! All phone functions back to normal, phone calls normal, voice memo working, etc.

Tips: If your phone is still under warranty, please search help from Apple Store. If not, get the audio IC checked, and most likely it will work for you as well.

Again, this is not a software problem, it’s the hardware issue, another new update won’t fix it!

I recently experienced this issue as well. It started out that I couldn't hear my callers, and my callers couldn't hear me and then I lost all functionality to make/accept calls and my callers were expressing that my phone was going straight to voicemail.

I followed the steps in this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204027

I turned airplane mode on/off and that solved the issue of not being able to make/accept calls, but I was still unable to hear my callers and vice versa. I tried most of the steps outlined in this article, but the step that worked for me was resetting my network settings.

I hope this helps!

I have been having the same issue. Phone calls through the phone and headphones hard wired in do not have any sound. Speaker selection is greyed out. I am on the AT&T network with iPhone 7plus 128gb.

i have reset network settings, erased phone with reset to factory settings. I have spoken with Apple Support whom recommended visiting a store to have an Apple genius look at the phone.

removing the SIM card helped. I can at least hear now after the SIM card.

this is very frustrating and not a hardware issue to warrant a visit to a store!

I no longer purchase apple products, The amount of faults they have is beyond a joke (And at no fault of the customer), considering the price you have to pay for them, How much do you think apple make on repairs of this nature? These audio ic faults are simply bad design (and they know it and should be fixing them for free) If it's not this fault then its the baseband chip fault which gives you the no service issue, These are not cheap to fix, Just google iphone faults its unbelievable what you will find, Apple are a disgrace!!!. These faults should be fixed out of warranty as they clearly are a design flaw.

I am having this same issue. At one point, I was able to get a call through and was able to have a conversation with somebody for about a miniute before it went silent again. Otherwise, there is complete silence on both ends during incoming and outgoing calls. And the iPhone speaker is greyed out. I just installed the new update two days ago. If that’s the issue, I hope Apple can fix it soon!

I have the same problem ! Apple won’t acknowledge its a defect. Please everyone call Apple corporate at 407-996-1010 to express frustration. If Apple recognizes the fault as theirs they will do a warranty exception. We all need to voice our concerns! They are currently do an exception for a no service issue on some iPhone 7 . They need to do the same for this issue. Go as high as you can at Apple corporate!

Fail for me as well ... BUT I was already on 12 when mine acted up. I found a hard reset fixes it for a while and then it fails again. The repair shops outside APPLE know about this and charge a bunch. Seems Apple should fix this ... way too many people getting ******. Mine goes beyond the greyout, I will lose audio on the ear piece, the microphone and the Apple headset, but interestingly the speaker works fine ... except for calls.

Can this fall under the "No Service" fix since I believe the Audio IC that handles this is on the logic board replaced in this problem?

I am also having same problem in iphone 7 plus. After upgrading to 13.1.3 speaker button is grayed out and cant make call. Cant here any thing while making calls. After going to Apple service center, they said they need to replace motherboard to fix this issue. As my phone was out of warranty, they were charging INR 55000, which almost to price of new iphone 7 plus.

Feeling like cheated by such a big company Apple.

I will never use apple products further. Very bad experience.

Thanks Steve is death, hope Tim also dies soon, after getting curse of many victim customers like me.

I'm not sure if my problem is due to the update of ios 13.3 because I have automatic phone updates. However, in fact, the release date corresponds to the beginning of the problems. This could be the cause. Unfortunately apple does not recognize this as its problem caused by the update. What you can do is write on all the support sites and consumer associations. Both in English and in your native language.

Ask friends who have had the same problem to make themselves heard on the forums, but above all write on the apple feedback site https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

and specify the problem. The more we make ourselves heard, the more apple will be forced to remedy.

Definitely a serious problem that apple cannot underestimate. Write to the support and ask to write and complain to those who are in the same condition.
