Whacked Mouse after Upgrade

My mouse has gone wonky and won't work right after the recent software update on my macbook pro, on April 3rd 2018, to the 10.13.4.

The symptoms are: the safari screen randomly enlarges, or shrinks and has a blue halo around it. The pointer won't move. And other symptoms.

It is a little weird and annoying.

I've changed all my trackpad settings to nothing except the tap once, but this isn't solving the problem. I've also force quit everything and shut down the whole computer and restarted it. Doesn't fix the problem.

Please advise.

Thank you!

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

I think I might have solved the problem.

An IT friend of mine suggested that maybe the batteries were low in the mouse itself. I said that that couldn't be true as I had just changed them a week ago. But I decided to try it anyway and put in two new ones.

This seemed to work as all the screen freak-outs stopped and the mouse and pointer are working normally again.

My IT friend said that taking out the batteries "resets" the mouse.

Who knew.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Also try the Safe Mode.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

I have the exact same issue but without the BT mouse though, ie with the Trackpad, this could hardly be a battery issue ;-( !!

Have reset a couple of things no result, NVRAM SMC etc. unfortunately to no avail. Was planning on buying a new MB Pro this June, if its not fixed soon will have to take other measures. This is the first time I experience an issue with this MB Pro (mid 2012). So not much for me to be disappointed about, however after reading the threads am a bit disappointed with the level of customer service Apple is showing towards all these issues after performing a (harmless) security upgrade. This is not what I've been used to concerning Apple, step it up!
