Magic Keyboard slow key input response

My magic keyboard has suddenly developed a problem - after several hours, the response to keystrokes slows to a crawl - 15 seconds or more between keypress and response.

It is connected via Bluetooth to a 2012 Mac Mini running OS 10.12.6. There have been no software updates, new software installations, or system changes of any kind.

The only thing that's different is that this unusual behavior developed after a power failure.

Removing and re-inserting the batteries resolves the problem, but it always recurs.

Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), 480GB SSD added to speed things up

Greetings, gokart-mozart!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with your Magic Keyboard responding slowly and I'm happy to help! At this point, since the issue is still going on after trying the steps in the article you came from If your Apple wireless mouse, keyboard, or trackpad isn't working as expected and if you have tried switching to brand new batteries, it would be best to go to this link to Contact Support This will get you in touch with Apple and they will be happy to proceed with further steps.

Have a great day!
