Time Machine Backup from icloud

Hello all

I deleted some stuff from a database that ist synced via iCloud (ninoxdb.de). It seems that the only place where this database saved is somewhere in the iCloud folder.

As you can see in this picture Ninox Database.app is acitivated

User uploaded file

and it has some 129 MB on the iCloud

User uploaded file

Now when I open the iCloud Drive folder on my Mac and use Time Machine, the Ninox Database Folder doesn't show. When I go back in time then some old folders show but no Ninox Database.

Is there any chance to reach that Ninox Database with Time Machine?

Best regards,

Time Machine backups allow you to selectively restore data from past Mac backups to it. But your title specifies iCloud, so not sure that we are talking about the same thing?

Are you asking about backups you have made with your Mac to an external drive using the Time Machine functionality on your Mac? If so, this support article should get you started:

Hi LACAllen

Thank you for your answer

Can't see the full path from your screenshot

Is the path User --> Lybrary --> Mobile Documents?

If so, there are no files from the Ninox Database. Only the files that are in the iCloud Drive folder as well.

Hi Gail

Thank you! What I just found out is that I can see all the data when I open User --> Lybrary --> Mobile Documents with ForkLift (a finder replacement).

Now I need a way to access those files with Time Machine to restore my Ninox database.

Is there a way to do this?

I'm searching for files from within iCloud Drive that are locally mirrored on my iMac which I would like to restore with Time Machine.

Those files on iCloud are files which Ninox produced and synced via iCloud to my other apple devices.

Ninox does not store those files locally, so I try to restore them from iCloud ...

The list you are seeing is a list of apps that store data in iCloud, but that data is not necessarily accessible. For example, you can't see email on iCloud Drive, but you can see it in your Mail app. So, the data that is being stored for the app in question probably can be seen when you open the app, but is probably not directly accessible via iCloud.com or via iCloud Drive.

Well, again, the app may store data in iCloud, but it is not archived data, nor is it accessible data.

iCloud is a syncing/sharing service. So, there is nothing in iCloud that you can retrieve from an earlier point in time.

Time Machine is a feature that you can use to back up your Mac to an external drive which does archive data at the points in time at which you make the Time Machine backups.

So, I think you may be confusing iCloud with Time Machine. iCloud is not an archival service at all. And, again, any backed up data that is put in iCloud by other apps is not accessible, nor is it archived.

Best,

GB
