iPhoto will not import all photos from iPhone X

Hi everyone,

I recently got an iPhone X and had it backed up through iCloud so that it was all ready to go before leaving the store. When I got home, I wanted to import all my pictures to iPhoto because I like to keep them downloaded right on my computer instead of using iCloud (all my photos are still on iCloud, I just like to have a physical download copy too on my MAC). As I went to import the photos to iPhoto, it only brought up a fraction of the photos I needed to upload, even though I can see them all clearly on the iPhone. Does anyone know why iPhoto won't register and upload all my photos and only does a select few? I've tried everything to get them to upload, but am now totally lost. And on top of that, during the importing attempts, the photos on my iPhone camera roll are now all out of order and I have no idea why.

Has this happened to anyone else?

MacBook Pro, iOS 11.3

Check, if iCloud Photo Library has become enabled on the iPhone. If you are using iCloud Photo Library and "Optimize Storage" is enabled in the Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Photos & Camera, then you cannot download the phtos any longer from the iPhone by using a USB connection to the computer. With the photos stored in iCloud and "Optimize" on, only a fraction of your photos will bestored on the iPhone and be showing in the Import panel on your computer. In that case you need to use iCloud to download the photos from the iPhone to your computer or atleast disable "Optimize Storage" and keep all photos stored on the iPhone in full resolution.
