Received an email stating that "There was suspicious activity on your AppleID so we locked your account."

I just got this email and at first i thought that it was legit, but upon further inspection it appears that it isn't.
Within the message, it states that my account is locked and it may be permanently locked if i don't login after 24 hours to "verify". Im highly skeptical, if my account is already locked I shouldn't be able to download apps or update them right? I just need someone to confirm my suspicions that this is indeed a phishing attack and not an actual account lock.

The email also came with a Message ID
"Message ID : #aoqeae2mh9g9xu2chc11rc98txd"

I haven't seen a "message ID" before and i don't know if it's legit or not.

Apple will always address you by your name or the name they have on file for you and the e-mail will be from @apple.com or @iTunes.com. E-mail addresses can be spoofed. You can go to Mail/View/Message/Show all Headers to see more.

Send the e-mail to Apple as an attachment to a new e-mail before deleting it. You can forward as an attachment by going to Mail/Message/Forward as attachment.
