Green bar after converting JPG to HEIC

I noticed a problem when converting jpeg files to heic using preview.

I tried different quality settings but on some pictures, not all, the top row of pixels becomes green.

I'm on Sierra 10.13.4

Anyone else has this problem?

It's hard to see on the first picture, but when you zoom in you clearly see the green bar.

This is not present in the original jpeg!

If you're running the latest version of OS X, High Sierra 10.13.x then the answer is yes. Any version of OS X before that will not be able to open HEIC files by itself and conversion maybe questionable.

Try upgrading to 10.13.4

You might look at https://imazing.com/ or https://heictojpg.com/

you can set your iPhone to shoot JPGs rather than HEIC. To do this go to Settings>Camera>Formats > Most Compatible
