How can I adjust proximity sensor operation?

Hello,

Prior to IOS 11.3 the iphone proximity sensor only turned the screen off if a voice call was in progress and you were near the sensor which is located at the top of the phone near the earpiece speaker. Since upgrading to 11.3 sometimes the proximity sensor turns off the screen anytime an object or your hand gets near the earpiece. This makes playing games or watching videos in landscape orientation difficult at best, since the screen keeps turning off.

I noticed if you reboot the phone this behavior seems fixed, but then it returns a day or two later. Did IOS 11.3 introduce any proximity sensor settings that need to be adjusted?

This behavior occured on my iPhone 7 plus, but eventually the prox sensor, speaker during calls and Siri stopped working even after a factory reset (I have a thread on here about that). So I moved my SIM card into a spare iPhone 7 (regular size) and now I have the proximity sensor issue like I did on my 7 plus when that was working.

I still use the 7 plus as a glorified iPod Touch since WiFi works, but now on the regular sized 7 which I need as an AT&T phone, the prox sensor is becoming a real issue.

Thanks in advance!

Did all that. 7plus has the issue and eventually that phone no longer had ANY audio in phone calls, and I couldn’t redirect audio to speakerphone because the speaker icon was grayed our. Also Siri couldn’t hear me at all, and it took 10 minutes at the apple logo to boot up. So I backed it up and factory reset it. Issues persisted even setup as a new phone.

So my work had a regular size iPhone 7, still 128gb so my backup fit on it. Restored it as mine but it forced me during activation to update to 11.3. I moved my AT&T SIM card over and the phone (and Siri ) work fine. It will hold me over until this fall when I can get whatever new phone will be out.

So the issue exists across resets and across phone models. Luckily a reboot on the smaller iPhone 7 is faster so when it happens I just have to do that.

How can we report this issue to Apple, or do they have employees browsing these forums taking notes? Do we know when an iOS 11.3.1 (or whatever the next version is) will be out?

Thanks!

Ok I did submit it there https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I had this problem on an earlier iPhone years ago. I forget what IOS version it was, but it was back in IOS 6,7 or 8. Apple fixed it in a software update. But now it seems to be back in 11.3. It’s random though and I know random bugs are tough to track. Both phone are AT&T, 128GB. Ones a 7 plus but ones a regular 7. I put all of this info in the iPhone feedback.
