Can I backup my Mac to my external gaming hard drive

I have a 3TB Seagate external hard drive that I have connected to my Xbox One. Can I use the hard drive as a backup destination for my MacBook Pro? Will this affect my Xbox at all?

MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

1. Not without reformatting or repartitioning it, or drag-copying individual items to it. In any case, backups and working data should be on separate drives in case one of them fails.

2. Unless stated otherwise in the documentation, you won’t be able to use the portion of the drive formatted for Mac backups with it.
