How do you change your Homepage?

Hey everyone, I'm having a hard time changing my Homepage from Apple.com to Google on my MacBook Air. I usually use Safari and I've tried a lot of different ways to change the Homepage but nothing seems to be working... I know I have to go into Safari > Preferences > General, it shows me that my current Hompage is http://www.apple.com/startpage/. I try deleting it and setting it to www.google.com or https://www.google.com. After I press "Set to Current Page" it changes right back to http://www.apple.com/startpage/. Does anyone know how to solve this? I'm sure it's an easy fix but I can't seem to figure it out. 😢

the "Set to Current Page" button is to set what ever page you have open, not what you type in, to the home page... so I have to ask; What page do you have open when you click "set to current page"?

I have a given the answer in previous thread posted by member Dominic , you can take cursor on the dead end of search engine and click command and delete then type the desired search engine , take cursor on top menu bar > History > Click on home it will prompt to change home page , click on it .

User uploaded file

But there is no method click on tabs , autofill and home page will be changed , also if a malware is in the Mac use Antivirus Replacement for Mac - Scan and Remove Malware | Malwarebytes

Some times if the problem persists enter in user library see this article macOS Sierra: Library folder

Find a folder Preferences and delete com.apple.safari.plist into the trash restart the Mac and empty the trash then reset the home page and in safari preferences keep extensions as off .

Cannot change Safari homepage?

The following procedure appears to solve the problem:

* In Safari, choose Preferences from the Safari menu.

* In the window that opens, click the General icon (if necessary)

* Enter your desired home page in the "Homepage" field, but DO NOT press return!

* At the top of the window, click any of the other icons (eg, Tabs, AutoFill, etc).

* You may see a prompt asking for confirmation for changing the home page. If so, confirm.

* Switch back to the General page and check to make sure the home page has been changed.

If this doesn’t help, please run EtreCheck and post the report here if you can .

https://etrecheck.com

Click “Free Download” button, open Downloads folder, click on it to open, and then select ”Open”.

Click on the bouncing EtreCheck icon in the Dock.

“Choose a problem” from the popup menu box, and then “Start EtreCheck” in the dialog.

Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” .

Paste it into the reply.
