telemetry folder

I've noticed a new folder on my computer called "telemetry" I have no idea what this means.

theres not much content inside it, just a file named "dis2820181456.fcr"

I moved it all to the trash but it created a new folder in its place.

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), late 2013 model

question about random folder Does anyone else have a folder in application support called CodecPlatform_MMPDec? you can check by pressing command + shift + G in finder and putting in "~/Library/application support" and then this is where i found it, in application support, i was cleaning my computer up a bit and deleting random, unnecessary files and stuff and found this random folder in here (i was looking in here to make sure no deleted applications that i may have had in the past 2 years forgot to delete their support folder), i was going to ignore it but i couldn't find any information about it online other than a thing with a similar name that was a virus but it was probably unrelated to this, i cant find anything on my computer though as well that it'd be linked to, so no "codecplatform" app, no "mmpdec" app, nothing, i even tried just simply searching up the full "CodecPlatform_MMPDec" term and still nothing found other than this support folder, does anyone have any input on this and/or have it? (if someone wouldn't mind checking their computer as well and tell me if they do or don't have it that'd be amazing as well, especially if lets say someone says they don't have it on their computer (that is running Catalina) and no one else says anything then i think it'd be safe to say that if they don't have it, i don't need it either considering there are no other links)

RELOCATED ITEMS folder ~ what is the "sysctl.conf" file? Thank you in advance for your help! I recently upgraded to BigSur and was confronted with a folder on my desktop RELOCATED ITEMS which contained a file sysctl.conf May someone please explain what this is? Thank you again....!

Messy and recursive directory structure in new MBP from time machine Hi, I just did a time machine restore to a new MBP and noticed the data on my hard drive was way larger than I felt it should be. So digging a bit, I see some suspicious looking directories. I don't recall seeing anything like this on the MBP that preceded this one (and the source of the time machine backup). This looks like I have recursive directory structures I think the disk utility structure looks good - I assume that Disk Image at the bottom is my external NAS (It was doing a time machine backup as I was taking screenshots)

Where is this folder located?

This could be adware or malware. It is certainly something running in the background. I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what software is running in the background. Download EtreCheck from https://www.etrecheck.com, run it, and paste the results here. EtreCheck is perfectly safe to run, does not ask for your password to install, and is signed with my Apple Developer ID.

The latest World of Warcraft build creates a 'Telemetry' folder on the HD (if it doesn't exist) whenever the WoW client is launched.
