VPN and Airport Extreme (802.11n)

I am considering buying this new Airport, but I will
need to set up a VPN between it and my work location.
Can this device cope with doing that? The old Airport
Extreme could not.

I am using Cisco Systems VPN Client version 4.9.00 (IPSec / UDP) with absolutely no problem.

Good to see that this seems to work now. However, even after the Firmware Update, I still cannot connect with Checkpoint SecureClient unless enabling default host for my local machine.

Also tried the various hints (UDP encapsulation, etc.) in this thread, still no success.

Any chance, you could post your configuration settings?

These setting refer to the names on the CISCO product, but you may be able to map them to yours:

Authentication: Group with username and password
Transport: Transparent Tunnelling enabled with IPSec over UDP (NAT / PAT)
Peer Response Timeout: 90 seconds

Nortel VPN didn't work at all for me until the firmware fix. Now after the firmware fix it works when I connect to the AirPort Extreme base via ethernet, but I can't get the VPN to work when using the wireless connection. Can someone tell me why, or what I need to do? Thanks.

Regarding your setup...post firmware fix, there is no need to do any of the temp fix steps we documented above. No assigned IP address, no default host assignment, etc... I would delete it all...everything should work (as many here have found)

I disagree. When I get rid of the "temp" fixes, I am not able to connect.

Still doesn't work for me (neither through Airport, nor through Ethernet). Could anybody with a working Checkpoint / VPN-1 SecureClient configuration post the settings?

I'm happy to report that I have no problems with VPN from my Windows XP computer (connects to an MS ISA server using PPTP). Software Update updated my AirPort Utility software which in turn updated the AEBS firmware and I was good to go.

Not fixed with the firmware update, not fixed by anything that the Product Specialist could tell me, which was all stuff that has been posted here before.

Everybody says it is somebody else's fault. What I am left with is a useless product from Apple. Airtunes and disks and printers on the wireless network are all in the toilet, because my wife has to be able to connect to her office with her Dell.

I have burned through an awful lot of time and several layers of stomach lining trying to figure this out.

Which settings? On the Airport Extreme N? After the firmware update, I removed the Default hosts configuration, so its pretty much default except for my wireless network name and password, and it just works.

Well, its a no go here as well. My fiance needs to connect to work on her Dell via Cisco 4.6 VPN. Her work will not allow her to upgrade to 4.9 and she cant modify transparent tunneling (ie turn it off).

What can we do? Any helps is appreciated at this point. I am running the latest 7.1 firmware.

I just did the software update. My network(s) consists of the new Extreme in (n) mode and Express plugged in to the Extreme operating in (g) mode. My Thinkpad/Lenovo (work PC) uses the Express network. Prior to the software update, VPN did not work. Now it does.

Are you using any Apple software on your PC? ie Airport Utility?

I'm nearing 3 months of ownership of this router and still the SonicWall VPN does not work with this router, yet it works with my linksys router.
