iMessage freezing, chrashing mac mini

Hi, two issues:

1: iMessage has been more and more problematic until absolutely unworkable - and 2: My almost new Mac Mini (updated to High Sierra) has become sloooooow.

#1: iMessage has been working until recently, but suddenly it wouldn't start, and after reboot starts but freezes first the app itself, and after two or three clicks on the close button, the entire screen goes black. Reeboot necessary again.

Any suggestions?

#2: Speed. It takes several minutes to launch other apps, like Chrome browser. When they are up they run fine. Anybody else experiencing that? Should I downgrade OS?

Completely uninstall CleanMyMac3 as per the developers instructions. Third party Cleaners and Utilities are not necessary.

They generally do nothing except bog down or foul-up macOS.

While Google Chrome and Google Drive do not currently look like a problem.

They can serously bring a base model (5400RPM HD / 4GB RAM) Mac Mini to it knees.

Thank you @den.thed for good advice! I have re-installed computer from scratch, and to be sure not re-installed third party apps, apart from Google Drive. Now it runs like a dream. :-)

Not sure exactly which Mac Mini you have...? Unfortunately, the latest base models are really not equipped to smoothly handle a lot of multi tasking.

At this point, your best bet would be to run an EtreCheck report and post back here with the results.

Great work Karsten, you'er welcome!

FWIW the base model Mac Mini's remind me of the Early 2006 Core Duo's. Very good machines both, but you had to keep the Launch Items and running App's down to a minimum.
