Apple TV 4K Location Services Not Working

On my Apple TV 4K I had to reinstall the DirecTV Now app because I was having issues with it. When I reinstalled it I noticed that all my local channels were gone and that it did not have a location zip code. I then asked Siri ”what’s the weather like?” and she responded with “I don’t seem to be able to get your current location”. Now I don’t know exactly when the location services stopped working But I can tell you the following:


I installed a Unifi AP and used my Netgear router solely as a router.

Because of work being done in our house I had to connect the Apple TV to WiFi.

I recently ditched the Netgear router for a Unifi USG.

I’ve tried restarting and resetting the Apple TV. No change.

I’ve tried hardwiring back to my network. No change.

I have another Apple TV, 4th gen I believe, non-4K and it has not lost it’s location settings but I also have not reinstalled any apps or reset it since there has been no issue and it’s connected via WiFi.


Any suggestion?

Winston I appreciate your reply but I don’t believe that is it as the region is in reference to country which mine is set to United States and always has been. The location services I’m talking about would tell the Apple TV the ZIP Code I am physically in. When I asked Siri what the weather is she cannot tell me because it does not know where I am located. My other Apple TV that is working can tell me what the weather is in the town I live in.
