Mac OS 10.13.4 wake up screen glitch

I just upgraded to Mojave and I haven't seen the issue yet (knock on wood)

Here's my specs:

MacOS Mojave

10.14.2

2017 MBP 2.3 i5

8 GB Memory

Intel Iris Plus 640 1536 MB

You have to show it to them, in person. A screen sharing session with Support isn't likely to capture the glitch.

I've been having the screen flickering issue on opening my MacBook Pro (non Touch bar, 2017, macOS 10.13.6) for a while, but it's gotten worse recently. I didn't take a photo (I took a screenshot, but the screenshot shows nothing wrong), but what I saw was the same thing dntorricelli posted. For some reason, my MacBook also shut down/rebooted by itself, and it had to restart the apps I had open as soon as I logged back in.

Hopefully Apple will address this soon.

I got a brand new MacBook Pro 2018 as a graduation gift, and this wake up glitch occurred frequently with that new laptop. Since then, I have replaced it three times, and each new laptop I received has had the same exact problem. I have no idea what I should do and I am beyond frustrated

This happens to me on my MacBook Pro Retina 2015, but sometimes after a restart too not just sleep mode. It only seems to work properly now when I boot in safe mode. Of course, Apple claims that my computer is water damaged, which it is not but they can get those red lights to turn on just by wishing it so, so they won't help me, but I know it is a software issue and I want it patched!!!! If it isn't happening in safe boot, then it can't be a hardware problem. How have people been commenting on this post for almost 4 months and no one has done anything to fix it!!

I'm so glad I found this thread!! I have the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar 2017 15 inch and I've been experiencing some issues too: when I open up my Macbook pro lid I get the flash of pink/blue/whatever colour it happens to be; I can't play movies on Netflix or iTunes 'see image below' due to some problem with the display and if Netflix/youtube etc happen to start working I get a white flash localised in the centre of the display like you'd see on the screen of an old VCR player!!

I've been to the genius bar three times and they've never been able to recreate the problem. The only key advice I'd gotten is to note down these issues with apple support so that if a solution is found I have a clear history of what I've been through with this machine which I thought (ffs) was top of the line!!

No fix at all, it happen with sierra and mojave. It's random, it happen few times after I bought the laptop, then stoped for a few months and today it happen twice, after a sleep. In my case I have to close and reopen or restart.

It's my first and last apple product.

Greatings from Germany, we have this screen issue too. Our MacBook Pro 13" mid 2012 no Retina shows after sleep wakup the same screen issues. It shows a lot of artefacts, seems to be after the leatest updates. At the moment Mojave is installed. Tried to clear nv-ram and p-ram. It happens not so often, maybe 1 or 2 times a week. Hope there

is no hardware problem.

Certainly has been problematic & not much way to tell what percentage has been fixed, though I'd guess it's lower than in the past for the time frame. 😟

Just thinking, if it messed up the EFI or Firmware on the 1st round, that would seemingly make it a mixed mess to fix or not.

I just purchased a new 2018 macbook air (mojave), and this exact screen has happened twice on a wake-up from sleep (both times in the AM after 8-10 hours of non use), so it isn't only old machines using a new software... have we learned anything?

If I was more familiar with OS X I'd try to get to the bottom of it myself, but this is my first Mac.

Kernel buffer didn't have useful info. Neither did the logging GUI. If the error *is* registered by the system in any way I'm not sure where. Given the nature of it (driver/hardware interaction), it probably requires more advanced debugging tools.

Agreed. I was talking to my student today that has a macbook air (2018), and showed hr the photo of my screen issues after sleep. She says the exact same thing is happening to hers. She was one of the first to buy the new laptop. She says it happens about once or twice a week for the last 6 months.... How many others are out there that haven't said a thing???
