Mac OS 10.13.4 wake up screen glitch

I've been noticing this issue lately and Ive called apple support about it and we have tried clearing the nv ram and the cmos and it still will not go away. I was worried that it could have been a hardware issue but after doing some researching I think this may be a software issue with metal 2. every time I wake my MacBook Pro from sleep I get a brief 1 second flash this is what it looks like

I found a reddit post with a lot of people having the same issue and I hope that apple sees this and fixes it.

is anyone else having this issue on the latest version of high Sierra ? are there any fixes ?

I have the exact same issue and laptop. The screen glitches have been getting a little worse and I just got the below screen—my laptop had frozen, then I got this screen and had to manually restart. I chatted Apple Support after and they told me to reset the NVRAM. Hopefully this helps, but based on an earlier comment I'm skeptical.

still isn't solved ive tried everything from reseting the nvram, resetting the smc, reinstall Mac OS , I even got the logic board changed for a new one and still the issue persists, now apple support keeps telling me not to worry but this issue is getting annoying they don't even release a statement letting us know that this is an issue ive already sent them a bug report on this website, I would recommend you try to submit the issue through the bug report maybe they will see it and actually do something about it.

Hi, I have the same issue with my MacBook Pro 13" bought in late 2016 with no touch bar. Most of the time when I open it after the stop mode, I see a glitched screen like yours for few seconds and this problem started around January 2018. It's been also few weeks that I see a sort of quick flash on the screen when I watch Netflix, for example. I went to the store where I bought it to have it checked and the guy from the assistance told me that they have found some problems with the GPU. Since he's a friend of mine he suggested to monitor the Mac, see if I still can work with this problem (basically I can, it doesn't show up with any program) and maybe wait for some upgrade because it will cost me around €500 to have it fixed. Since it's a lot of money and I didn't get the guarantee extension when I bought it (😠😢) I decided to wait but I'm currently thinking about getting it fixed or maybe wait until the release of macOS Mojave and hope for the best.

hey so ive been following a guy who's posting youtube videos on the Mac OS Mojave betas and I told him about my issue and he said that this grey screen that we are all seeing is fixed with beta 7 of Mojave, so were only a couple weeks away from the launch of Mojave so I say wait and see if the problem goes away once you upgrade, I also get the flashes that your talking about when watching a video in netlifx or youtube, I got my whole logic board replaced with a new one and that didn't fix the issue so this is all software related there is nothing we can do now but wait till Mojave releases in September.

This happens to me on my MacBook Pro Retina 2015, but sometimes after a restart too not just sleep mode. It only seems to work properly now when I boot in safe mode. Of course, Apple claims that my computer is water damaged, which it is not but they can get those red lights to turn on just by wishing it so, so they won't help me, but I know it is a software issue and I want it patched!!!! If it isn't happening in safe boot, then it can't be a hardware problem. How have people been commenting on this post for almost 4 months and no one has done anything to fix it!!

Ugh. I guess we all have to wait for 10.14. But still, I implore everyone to call into Apple, after having taken a video of the staticky screen, and ask for a supervisor and get them to send you the link to send attachments so they can send it to engineering. Squeaky wheel, ya know? We can't just write on these boards. We have to tell THEM about the dissatisfaction. So annoying on a $1500 new computer.

I am having this problem as well. Ive taken it to multiple Apple stores and noone can fix the problem. My laptop, post sleep, has a flicker at the top, the mouse delays and the screen takes a while to appear on the screen. After a few minutes it will return to normal and act as if there is no problem. Some days it takes longer to return. I NEED A FIX !!!
