Of all the threads I found online, this one here best describes the issues I'm having. Of all the descriptions of artifacts on the screen, the only one that looks exactly like mine are that of _shivairani_ and _rclarksworld_; namely the multi-colored bars and square pixely areas around windows, and menu bars. In that sense it is different from the original screen issues mentioned (with newer Macs). Interestingly, like those two users I have exact model , my computer is a 13" 2012 Macbook Pro (aluminum body). And here too, it happens once or twice a week upon waking from extended sleep, and if I reboot it goes back to normal.
This is happening on Mojave, and started at least since High Sierra (maybe even while on Sierra). The issue first manifested itself in a full screen of colored bars that would flash for half a second upon wakeup of the system, before showing the login screen with all things being normal thereafter. I was a little concerned about it, but didn't seek any solutions. It was around the same time that I installed Parallels, so I suspected that something about the virtual box software was messing with screen display issues. Any opinions on that being a possibility?
Someone mentioned that this pattern looking more like heating issues than the other ones. Why?
Would installing a fan control software potentially help with this? If so, why would this happen when waking up from sleep rather than during heaviest use of the CPU? Perhaps I will try to at least monitor the heat for a while.
Perhaps if ours too is a Metal 2 issue, it stands unresolved by Mojave and displays in a unique way on the 13" inch 2012 Macbook Pro.
